Bottom Line: Purchased this pair from Amazon (Vanns) for under 180.00 delivered! I was stupid enough to tradel my vintage Polk RTA8s (1990) for a JBL CS10 sub (new) and a pair of Infinity Entra Ones. Not that these are bad pieces, but I have grown used to the sound of the Polks over the last 20+ years.
Anyway, decided to give the BAs a try based on their rep and price. These have a great low end and silky smooth highs but the mids are a bit lacking. They sound detatched, maybe a bit muted. Not horrible, but don't really blend with the rest of the spectrum.
That said, it is not bad enough to say don't buy these. Actually, there are many pieces of music in which this condition is hardly noticible. It seems these were made for Fleetwood Mac and Clapton. With some tracks from other artists though, I could really tell.
Have owned these for about a week and they have about 20 hours of time on them. Not really sure if sound will round out more or not, but they certainly work great for HT and sound excellent for most things that I listen to.
Good Things: Tight, punchy low end that can handle kick drums and low bass chords easily. Also, snares crack nicely and symbols are accurate and not fatiguing. Great imaging. Sounds like vocals are coming out of my center channel speaker. Can be cranked with no distortion. This actually tends to even everything out a bit. Very reasonably priced and a good match for HT.
Not So Good Things: Really, I can only complain about the mids on occasion. Also, because of this, listening at low levels can be disappointing at times, depending on the music.
Overall a tremendous value. I can't say you won't be disappointed because I don't know you, but I think for most who take the value factor in mind, you will be very satisfied.
