Bottom Line:
I've had these speakers for just over a month now and would thoroughly recommend them to anyone looking for a quality audio experience at a reasonable cost. Aesthetically, they are clean and defined, perfect for subtly blending in to a room. However, if you're looking for kit that shouts out it's price tag (B&O style), making it clear to everyone who comes round that you are an audio enthusiast, these probably aren't for you. These speakers are all about what they should be, the sound.
They deliver a rich, full sound, which somehow envelopes the room. However, although barely noticeable while watching movies, the driver technology copes less well when you play music through them. These speakers lack the piercing sharpness I expected from a £4-5k set of 5.1 speakers. I played a few tracks from acosutic artist colin hay, and although they gave a full, warm sound, the guitar was quite as defined as the real thing.
The subwoofer, on the other hand, provides a more than ample bass backing (I think you could start a small earthquake if you turned it right up!). the thing I really like about b and w speakers is, strangely, their ability to give such a true texture. Although they lack pin point sharpness, somehow you can pick out individual instruments in an orchestra with ease, without it turning into a mess (I welcome explanations, becuase it is truely extraordinary).
To conclude, if you're looking for a validly priced, discrete system with a £4-5k budget, I would highly recommend b and w fpms. They are quality products built for the audio experience, truly for the enthusiast (especially the one who doesn't want anyone else to know!). In terms of movies and home cinema, they are virtually flawless. However, the audiophiles amongst you may be put off by the ever so slight lacking of a truly crisp sound. On the other hand, I doubt you'll find anything else on the market that performs this well all round within anywhere close to this price bracket (I didn't, and I looked for three months!). Well done B&W.

P.S. I would always recommend professional installation and setup when it comes to this price bracket to get the best out of higher end speakers.
