Review 2 of 26

Price Paid:  $350.00

Summary:
Hi, (350€ paid) i bought this pair of speaker about 3 years ago. Im running them with a Marantz PM-78. After these time i can say that it is a really great speaker if you see the price and what you get for that. The speaker is in this priceclass unbeaten. I love that sound. The mid and highs are really good. Especially voices sound great. The bass sometimes has a lag. But it also sounds well. There is only one thing i dont like at this speaker. If he has to play real Metal sound he is not hard enough. You can hear it that he doesnt like that style of music. All in all i would buy it again. i have just ordered a pair of B&W 604 S3. The 305 will become my Rearspeaker now for the planned Home Cinema. All i can say is - if you get this speaker for about 300-400€ buy it. Its old but in this price class still one of the best i think.

Strengths:
Mid and High

Weaknesses:
Bass

Review 4 of 26

Price Paid:  $430.00 from Butch's Sound Shack

Summary:
Quality speaker at this price point...nice imaging for a small floorstanding speaker. Good for HT, outstanding with a sub (I'm currently using a Boston PV600 for HT). For a two-channel set-up, I'd probably opt for 601's or 602's with good pair of stands. For HT, they're tough to beat. As for the bass complaints...I think you're all expecting too much from a fairly small full range speaker. It "is what it is" ...good all around speaker for the $$$.

Strengths:
bi-wireable

Weaknesses:
none at this price...

Review 5 of 26

Price Paid:  $450.00 from Vink Hifi Groningen

Summary:
lots of reviewers say the speakers lack off bass... we'll i think that for a set of speakers with >55hz in the specs they have a great, deep but just not to loud bass. most popular music forms have a 'puch' at 60-70 hz so that's shouldn't be a problem. the high tones are really great! Must say that these speakers make me enjoy music that i never liked before :-) this is my first set of 'decent' speakers, so i can't really compare them. i tried the mission m74 as well, thay are a bit more expensive but i found them a little 'unnatural' the mid was to strong for my opinion.

Strengths:
good bass, mid and high

Weaknesses:
not really looking great without the grille

Similar Products Used:
Mission m74

Marantz MA-9S2 Reference Series Power Amplifiers Review

Marantz MA-9S2 Power AmplifierThe list above has one tenet that I continue to hold true: high powered amplifiers are necessary to reproduce the full dynamic range of music with most speakers. This became apparent when I changed from the 100 Watt per channel Bella Extreme 100 to the 250 Watt.....
