Strength:

Clarity, clarity, clarity. Full round sound that doesnt seem to come from just one location its everywhere!!

Weakness:

I listen to alot more music and movies,it causes me to by more cd's and dvd's

My home theater system that had taken a year for me to assemble with my hard earned money was stolen while out of town at a friends wedding. I purchased the Denon AVR 1803 as my reciever (the same that was stolen) and figured i would go cheap on the speakers because i coudnt replace the definitive technology speakers that where stolen due to financial constrants and a new baby on the way. I purchased the SS-CN495H on ebay after looking at the reviews for it. I also purchased 3 Sony M100H bookshelf speakers for temperary surrounds. After assembling a modest temp system with a boston acoustics sub and EPI 120 2/3 mains, I couldnt beleive what I had done by accident!!! The sound is transparent!! It surrounds me. The sony SS-CN495H is the most amazing center speaker I have listened to. It makes the def tech center that i payed a weeks salery for sound like it was under water!! I have learned many things from the experience one thing is you can have amazing sound and save alot of money. Oh ya, this isnt a temp system anymore Im keeping it!!!!

Strength:

The speaker is horrible. It is kinda heavy though, so you might could use it as a door stop, or a weapon perhaps. If you consider that a strength, then by all means by this speaker.

Weakness:

To many to list. Horrible product.

I purchased this center channel with hopes of full, clear, crisp audio from a center channel. I got none of the above. The sound is "boxy". Certain high pitch tones make the speaker crackle. The midrange is horrible. Which makes the spoken audio sound like your standing in a cave.

Strength:

Not really any that I can find.

Weakness:

Audio sounds VERY boxy...like its is coming out of a cave.

Well, I've used this center channel speaker for quite a few months now. And I must say that I am not very impressed. To me, the sound is very boxy. The spoken audio sounds as if it is coming out of a cave. I am not impressed at all.

Strength:

Bright, natural, robust sound and well constructed.

Weakness:

No mounting stand to adjust speaker tilt angle. Had to prop up the rear of the speaker with a piece of rigid foam.

I purchased the Sony CN495H center channel speaker to replace my Infinity CC-1 system, which I've never been happy with. The CC-1's sound dull and unnatural. This is what happens when you buy a speaker system without doing your homework and listening to a sales person who just wants to push their garbage. I am very satisfied with the Sony CN495H center channel speaker system. They produce a surpassingly bright, natural, robust sound. It is my opinion that a person would have to spend a lot more money to get a center channel speaker that would sound only slightly better.

Great center, definitely good price-performance relatio. I bought it as center speaker in SS-CR5005H set, with rear surround speakers which are made with same 13 cm woofers and nano-tweeter. In combination with SS-MF500 front speakers it's a great combination! Vocals are clear in full range of tone colours with no distortion. Just go for it ;-)

Strength:

Impressive dialogue clarity. Superb price tag.

Weakness:

None.

I bought this Center Channel to match my Sony SSM500H main speaker system. I was astounded by the way the Center Channel reproduced the dialogue and sound effects of the movies. It''s clarity is superb and its woofers know how to bang when it''s neccesary. I can rest assured with the quality of my SSCN495H!!!

Strength:

Good Base and Treble. Very nice clarity.

Weakness:

I haven't found any, yet...

Well, I got this Center for my Birthday, before Christmas. It has great sound, and makes the rest of my speakers sound a hell of a lot better. I was using a Bose 141 speaker, which wasn't bad, but didn't have the punch nor the clarity that this speaker has.

I would definetly recommend this Center to anyone looking for good sound and price. In it's price range, I don't think it can be beat. The other Centers, that I look at that are in the same range, didn't sound as good as this one did.

I bought the sony HTDDW830 theater system. 550watts (5x100, 1x50 sub). I didn't like the fact that the center channel was the same 4" fullrange that all the other satelite speakers were. I didn't hear the full sound from it and it sounded a little muffled to me. I tried adjusting everything possible and still was not satisfied with the sound from the center speaker. I read alot on this speaker 945 and hooked it up in the other centers place. WOW! I finally got the sound I was craving. Nice clear crisp sound for T.V watching or enjoying a DVD. I give this center channel TWO THUMPS WAY UP !!!!. If your in need of a center channel w 150 watt max give this one a shot, you won't be disappointed.

Strength:

very good sound when separating voices in dialogues

Weakness:

This is my first surround sound setup. I was looking for decent speakers and receiver so I could connect my Sony 36XBR450. I bought the TV set at Sound Advice, but unfortunately, they do not carry unexpensive speakers there: all of them are from manufacturers that only make speakers.
My previous experience with speakers were a pair of JVC, and I don't want/need them better than those: I had them for 18 years and I didn't keep them because they didn't fit in the wall unit. Therefore, I didn't need a fancy brand name for my center speaker.
So I went to Best Buy and got this Sony SS-CN495 for about $90.00. I use it with the SS-MB100 speakers and a STR-DE475 receiver: all of them entry line.
The movies, music, TV programs, etc. sound just great! I can listen to dialogues in movies or TV programs and I'm satisfied with it.
