Highs and Mids not bright enough

3 months again, I got the Infinity Delta Center from onsale.com for $91 plus shipping. Its high and mids are very clear and bright enough so that the dialogue is crystal clear and outstanding.

Since I got a 36" TV now, and I saw the this wide center speaker from egghead.com (merged with onsale.com). So I picked one up for $91 dollars plus shipping again. Its bid price is usually $120 !! Someimtes, the hourly express auction could give you a better deal compared to the daily auction.

Compared to Delta Center, the wide center has a little more bass and sound stage is wider. However, the highs and the mids is about 30% less clear and less bright than the Delta Center.

My receiver has two center channel output so I put the wide center on top of my TV and Delta Center at the back between the rear speakers. It sounds pretty good !!

If you see delta center from onsale.com again, get one and you will find out what you are missing. They are gone for 3 months already.

If you are buying from retail store, I believe the Gold Center may give you a better result. (I have not try it yet, but I will not recommended this wide center at retail value).

Since I only paid $91, the overall rating is 5, but value rating is 3 (need improvement !!)

Weakness:

LACK OF HIGHS AND VOICE DETAIL

THIS OVERALL IS A GOOD CENTER CHANNEL. THOUGH I PERSONALLY THINK IF THEY PUT IN A TWEETER HORN INSTEAD OF THE DOME TWEETER IT WOULD SOUND ALOT BETTER. I MAY EXPERIMENT AND SEE IF I CAN FIT A KLIPSCH HORN IN IT.! BUT FOR 100.00 BUCKS THERE IS NOTHING AROUND THAT WILL COME CLOSE TO IT.

price, construction

Weakness:

bass

I also got mine through Onsale for under $140. Was surprised at the solid construction.

It's a sealed box unit with 2x5.25" midrange/woofers so bass is lacking but handles higher power levels without bottoming out like vented box designs of the same size. The lack of bass isn't too bad if you're using full range side channel speakers and a subwoofer. Sound improves slightly after some break in.

It would be tough to find anything significantly better under $300. Easy to find many much worse.

Well I must say this Forum has done very well by me, going on Mac's reviewand the excellent price $149 plus shipping from onsale, I could have waited
and bid earlier but I wanted one and $139 seemed to be the lowest to get
them these days so I went for it, now Onsale appears to be jacking the prices by setting
the price at $329 to start! I hope this is just a mistake maybe they lost
money at the lower price, I haven't seen these speakers anywhere except
Onsale which leads me to believe this is a deal with them, and Pinnacle's
website doesn't advertise this speaker, the AC Center appears to be the
same with 2 speakers lists for $209.
Paired with my Overture 3's(at Ubid.com under $1200 pair) and an excellent receiver(In my opinion for the money) Yamaha
RV1105(Onecall.com $550 plus shipping you can get them down on prices through email bargining and use of other vendors pricing to haggle, very good company to deal with once the price is right) this speaker sound very good and sounded better than the Infinity CC-1, 2 or 3 in my opinion @ Circuit City.
I was planning on staying brand loyal, but this was the right choice for me
you don't miss the very bottom that the Infinity can go 80hz as opposed to
100hz for these.

With 85 watts going to these they sound very detailed and voices come alive,
I have a unique layout, I am in a townhouse with a hottub inside behind the couch, I had a hard time understanding dialogue while in the hot tub with the couch moved unless the speakers were turned up and the bass would drowned out the vocals and I would piss off my neighbors plus I still wanted some of the bass, this speaker set at 7db gain over the mains allows me to hear much better and from 20 feet away.
I would recommend them to anyone, high quality, nice components, a small
company with a small company feel, from the documentation and a nice booklet
explaining speaker principles and placement and more.

Thanks again Mac and Lee

TWEETER COULD BE LOUDER

TO START OFF WITH THIS IS A AWESOME LOOKING CENTER CHANNEL. IT PRODUCES GOOD SOUND FOR MOVIES AND RADIO. ITS A MONSTER AT 27" LONG.
THE ONLY THING THAT THEY NEED TO DO IS INCREASE THE TWEETER SIZE OR INSTEAD OF A SOFT DOME, PUT IN A 90 X 60 HORE TWEETER LIKE ALMOST ALL OF KLIPSCH SPEAKERS.

Not much

Weakness:

mids and highs

I didn't find anything super impressive with this center channel. Lots of bass, but poor voice clarity. I did a comparison between the CM Wide and an Infinity that I used before. The CM Wide in my opinion was very muddy. It just didn't have the nice clean punch and the voice clarity the Infinty has. The construction seems to be solid with good connectors. The price was good, but you get what you pay for. Higher price doesn't always mean great sound or quality. I paid slightly more for the Infinity

This was a "low rent" sounding speaker. Get if you have Pinnacle main speakers and can't afford their better center speaker. Extremely nasal and congested sounding.

When I bought the Sony center speaker I knew it would only be temporary. I was going to replace it with a Wharfedale Modus Music Center to complement my Valdus 500's but when I came across the Pinnacle I stopped searching. The reviews here have it right. WOW!!! You can substitute other words but it hardly does the Pinnacle justice. It is going on the quick buys for $329 at OnSale.com, but I was able to snag this for $121. Price including shipping was $137. If you can pick this up, do it. It has a seven year warranty, which is a definate plus. It is very heavy, weighing in at 20 lbs, and is solidly built. The speaker screen is attacted on with velcro, but it is a very snug fit. Personally I would prefer them to have used another method of securing the screen, but for the price I can't complain. I would not take away any stars due to that. Even if you had to pay full price for it, it is worth it. Five stars for the value and five for the price.

My system:
Wharfedale Valdus 500's
Pinnacle Widescreen Center
Acoustic Research 206HO's for surround
Audiosource SW-10 subwoofer
Sony TP-WE635 tape deck
Harmon Kardon AVR40 receiver
The mains and center are connected using Monster cable. The surrounds using Radio Shack Megacable. The subwoofer by cheap Magnovox cable.
