Review 2 of 3

Price Paid:  $449.00 from A7B Sound Victorai

Summary:
The CC1 is part of a full Energy system using the C-7 towers, C-1 bookshelf surrounds, and Encore 8 sub. A lot of movie and music mixes end up farting sound out of this or that speaker for the shear novelty of it. Overuse of the center combined with studios that treat environmental reflections like a virus have resulted in some "shouty" mixes. This center sits on top of a highly reflective surface - a Toshiba 34" widescreen HDTV. Properly adjusted it has proven to be seemless with the C-7's on either side of it. I think lesser center channels adjusted down in volume to remove the "shouting" charicter created by bad engineering (read: engineers not considering the high reflective chunk of glass above or below the center channel) with ultimatly be unable to deliver clear and articulate dialog. The CC1 delivers clarity and resolution in spades! It would probably take twice as much money in a center channel to improve upon this. Of course it would actually take alot more as the secret to great surroung soung is precise speaker matching (same drivers, same line) and source /amplication that is up to the standards of the speakers. The CC1 has delivered the goods

Strengths:
Seamless with C-7's

Weaknesses:
No Bi-Wire option

Similar Products Used:
C-7's, C-1, Encore 8

Review 3 of 3

Price Paid:  $325.00 from A & B Sound

Summary:
I have Energy e:XL 25 main and e: XL 15 surround speakers. I could not get EXL-C center speaker because it has been discontiued a while ago. The only center speaker which can replace EXL-C is C-C1. The price is almost doubled as EXL-C, but I never regret what I paid for after I tried it out. It has a very good frequency response on both mid and high ranges. Sound clarity; natural speaker; Clear on music. Even it is a little bit bulky sitting on the top of my TV, I have no complaint at all.

Strengths:
Clarity & detail on music. Good sound-stage, clear, and pretty outlook.

Weaknesses:
None other than the price.

Similar Products Used:
Energy ECC-1R Center Spk.

Marantz MA-9S2 Power AmplifierThe list above has one tenet that I continue to hold true: high powered amplifiers are necessary to reproduce the full dynamic range of music with most speakers. This became apparent when I changed from the 100 Watt per channel Bella Extreme 100 to the 250 Watt.....

The unit arrived from China well packed and everything seem to be in place. No external abuse by the carriers. The only problem was the power supply it came with. The box came with a cheap step-down converter.
