These speakers rock! Quad had a pro line of studio monitors very similar to these, it seems possible
that main difference may be the cabinet finish and slightly downmarket components. Anyhow I feel like I have
a pair of Quad-esque speakers purchased for $110 per speaker. I have Ascend CBM 170-SE's and imho the pro diamonds blow them out of the water. Love the holographic mids in these things, also like the impedance at 4 ohms, mated to my HK receiver (4 ohms are a peice of cake for the avr-254) these babies rock the joint with clear accurate sound. My only quibble is the tweeter, could be stronger, but it can be replaced easily. Oh yeah the Neutrik speakon two pole connectors (2 pole) work so well it makes me wonder why more home oriented speakers do not have them. It seems if bi-wiring is important to you a 4 pole speakon would be a much more elegant solution.
