Summary:
I have a pair of these little guys on loan from Crane Home Theater to try in my second system. That room is around 8H X 12D X 9.5W and I’m just under 4’ away. Most speakers won’t converge that close, but no problem with the MDIIs. They have a very flat, coherent wave much like the Manger drivers, which go for about a grand each - and that without an enclosure. These are perfect monitors and are small enough to get high-end audio from your computer.

They have decent bass on their own, but I prefer a little more so TBI’s self-powered VIP should fill the bill. I would have given them 4.5 stars, which is remarkable for loudspeakers under $1K/pr. We have a winner!

Strengths:
Natural sound and a joy to listen to.

Weaknesses:
None when considered as a true near-field monitor, which is what they are.
