Strength:

music maker for a low budget
midrange matches well with tube gear

Weakness:

stiff to strip
performence strongly depends on system matching

I found this cable again in a box,and tried it in my system, wich is totally different trough the years.
When I bought it I was using elipson floorstanders, and it sounded well in the time on a cambridge amp.
I changed it later for an other brand, and it went in a box.
A few years later I tried it on Sonus Faber speakers, wich sounded hard and harsh,so it took only a few minutes and I replaced it again.
Now I am using tube gear and apogee ribbons, and this afternoon I thought I give it a trie.
What a big difference...it matches unbelievebly good!
There is a good stage,a natural sound,and even a nice 3d image.
Only in the bas in my system, its a little soft and lacks bottom.
So this cable reacts strongly on the system you put it in..
I did not suspect such a good performence, even comparing to my usual cables, wich cost many times the price of the 3.1.
In absolut terms it lacks some trebbledetail, but it makes music.

Strength:

deep and powerfull bass, smooth and slightly warm midrange and sweet if not overly detailed treble

Weakness:

lacks the last ounce of transparency and detailing but at the price what do you expect :-)

DOnt know where some of these people get the ideas about harshness and over bright. This cable adds warmth to most systems. I tried replacing it with Chord Rumour 4 bi-wire and that was a bright and horrid cable. In most ways the cable talk was more controlled and subtle with far better control over the bass. Maybe these peoples systems are harsh. im using some very high end gear... Audiolab 8000Q pre Audiolab 8000M monoblocks Linn Ikemi cd player B&W P5 speakers and all i can say is it takes a lot of money to better the cable talk. in fact i had to move to kimber 8VS just to get a big enough improvement.

Strength:

Maybe good to string yourself up with after a listen ?

Weakness:

Loads.

Try similar priced products from Ixos and QED, this stuff doesn''t rate. Period. Tried it on budget and mid range gear, a good cable shouldn''t colour, this does, adds grain, harshness and sharpens treble to cause fatigue. Also isn''t easy to lay out of the way as it quite unflexible and is ugly, and difficult to terminate.

Actually Cable Talk Talk 3 is basicaly just a new name for an older cable used to be producesed by the small British hi-fi/hi-end manufacturer Exposure. (It's founder has a history of ingeneering some Pink Floyd music.) Cable Talk just rebranded that cable (I don't dare to say "stole")and invested a lot in promoting it. Since I use Exposure amps for many years I talked to the people in the company about the cables. To my surprise they recommended to use Cable Talk Talk 3(Speakers are B&W P4) and forget about more expensive cables as any expences would not worth it. Yet I tried some more expensive cables from QED and Sonic Link and must admit that in such a very dinamic, transparent and bass tight system (Exposure sound usually is being described as "gutsy") this cheap cable is indeed a good option for a music lover who simply does not want to spend his life matching wires or feel guilty about spending too much on it. The other strength: long length is not a problem for this cable.

Strength:

Price, good performance at the price.

Weakness:

Doesn't go round corners !

I bought the Cable Talk because I moved to a larger room and needed 11m lengths.

Cable talk 3.1 (with Rega / Arcam / Acoustic Energy) works well and gives control, maintains timing and doesn't add any acoustic 'nasties'. Its marginally better than the QED products I've tried and quite a bit better than the K20 which was a big disappointment.

I'm amazed at the variety of reviews * to ***** in this column - maybe people have very different expectations or the cable is projecting the sonic properties of the electronics.

Strength:

tight bass, Get it, it is wicked in bi-wire. Much better than normal wire.

Weakness:

None at this price

Well, I do not think this set of reviews is doing the justice to 3.1! Most of negative people just say it is bad and suggest you are better of buying more expensive cable. Nobody gives specs of systems where it is used! Nobody tells what other cable on same systems they used previous to 3.1 or after, and how the change of cable improved sound. This is a crappy approach!
I believe after 8 months of use that Talk 3.1 is one of the best cables in the mark for its price of course. The sound delieved to my speakers is just too good to be true!

Strength:

Good improvment over bell/lamp/alarm wire

Weakness:

Doesnt compete with similar products in its price range

CableTalk 3.1 isnt crap, its just that other cables floor it for performance. I was quite happy with my 3.1 until I heard a friends (similar) system with the QED Qudos. The bass is tighter with good definition on mid and treble. The 3.1 seemed to blend everything more than I like and the bass was very bloated. I have lost all faith with WHAT HI-FI magazine, I now believe they endorse the products that have re3gular full page advertising, spend with caution!

My System

Arcam alpha 7se cd player
Arcam alpha 9 amp
Arcam alpha 9p power amp
Ruark Templar 2 speakers
Sony mds 930 minidisc
4 x QED silver spiral interconnects

Dont just listen to the reviews, listen to the cables!

My main system consists of:-Jeff Rowland Concentra amp-Wadia 860 CD-Jamo Oriel Loudspeakers. I`m not sure if I can give a good review of the Cable Talk 3.1 cable as I am only using it to supply the bedroom of my house on a temporary basis to a pair of Mission 782`s that belong to my Daughter, the cable I use to supply my Jamo`s is Silver Sounds 8. Although the Jeff Rowland amp could be classed as a `sound good with anything`amp, the Cable Talk does deliver the goods to the Missions on a Grand Scale and over a far from ideal length (over 50ft in total single wired) the sound being very open and detailed (as long as I don`t push the Rowland passed 11 o`clock)but as far as I can see it is a very compitant budget cable but would probably be better suited to a budget system
