Strength:

I have my MA6500 pushing absolutely beautiful sound to a pair of 37 year old Klipsch LaScalas and a pair of 5 year old Klipsch Corner Horns. ..sound is is crisp, not harsh, high end is clean, low end is firm. I run both pair of Klipsch simultaneously and at 2 watts things move in the house and I seem to be knocking the paint of the exterior. A superb amp....especially when attached to the world's finest hand made speakers with a 70 year history Christmas Light Brothers

Strength:

Warm, sweet rich sound. The you use as reference to compare all units you use after. Simple to use, reliable, doesn't take up much space.Looks a simple design inside, hopefully should be relatively easy to keep going! The tuner is sensitive (just a wire dangling off the back!) and sounds good.Haven't had the tuner drift problem reported by others. mobile mechanic

Strength:

Great receiver both functionally and cosmetically. Well designed interior makes working on this relatively easy. One board even can be unplugged and removed for service. Plenty of options including 2 Aux and 2 Tape inputs. Mid-range control to go with the base and treble. Plenty of power with a large outboard heat-sink. A keeper!

Weakness:

No significant weaknesses. The balance knob needs to be a little bigger. It's on a combo pot behind the volume knob and is tough to adjust without moving the volume knob.

I gave my brother my last sansui 881 , and now I have gotten another one that is got new filter caps , and some of the driver caps replaced also , It sounds very nice with plenty of power to spare. I have it hooked up to my Altec 604s and man , is all I can say. I love the vintage Sansui sound , its so clean and warm , I also have a recapped 9090 in the living room and It does a fine job.

I own many vintage Sansui gears and the 881 is one of the outstanding receivers Sansui has made. Nice clear sound with great highs and bass. The receiver will run any speakers you hook up to it. If you want something good, get this receiver.
