I recently aquired a Marantz 2245 of Ebay. I have enjoyed vintage marantz for years: 2265, 2252B and my main workhorse 2285B.

The 2245 is of the first wave of famous Marantz receivers that came out 1971-1974. What makes the 2245 unique is the fact that it is essentially a 2270 (2 x 70 watt) sharing the same massive powersupply and huge 9000 mf capacitors, however the output has been scaled back to 2 x 45 watt. Because of that the 2245 runs cool and puts little stress on the very high quality components - its like a huge 350 cubic inch v8 engine that only has to move a tiny 2 seater car. The result is some of the best marantz sound you will ever come across.

Soundstage is huge and transparent. Crank it up high and the most relaxed and controlled sound comes out of it with excellent depth, texture and imaging. Forget that it is only 2 x 45 watt - it will effortlessly fill any living room.

IThumbs up for this gem!
