Strength:

Detail, transparency, soundstaging, dynamics (to a certain degree)

Weakness:

Detail and level in the (in the bass region. Could tend to be on the bright side if not proper matched with other equipment

I bougth my EC 4,5 second hand, price 500 usd. I see price is set to 3995 in the US. This must be a mistake. I believe maybee 1995 is correct??? However, this is my impression: Soundstage and detail is very good. You won't be sitting in the first row in the concert hall, maybe 6. or 7. Through high resolution speakers you will hear new detail compared to mid-fi equipment. This will occure in the mid/higbands. In the bass, however, it doesnt impress. It is not as accurate as one could wish, and it does not go deep enough for fullrange speakers. Control is not the best in bass either. Reproduction of voices is good. So is guitars, brass instruments and violins. Due to high level of detail and lack of bass, it might sound bright in some systems. this does not meen cold, since there is warmth supplied. Where will the EC 4,5 fit in? If you have a warm sounding system with too much bass and woolly mid/high-bands, then perhaps this is the one for you. If you have a bright sounding system this amp will make your ears hurt. Soundstaging is good, but there is a catch: Rytm seemes to get lost on certain types of music. Remote control is worth a word or two: Simplest in the universe, and the cheapest. Make sure you get the one in acryl and gold-knobs, just for that luxury feeling.

Similar Products Used:

Different combinations including: Rotel RC 990, NAD 917 (pro-logic pre-amp), Doxa 06 signature (norwegian hi-end). These have been hooked up with Acurus A 250 and Doxa 70 SE. Cables have been MIT terminator series, speakers Infinity Kappa 70 (three way floorstander). CD-player Rotel RCD 965 and Pioneer PD-S06. Music: Different, mostly pop, rock, dance but also acoustic blues, small jazz-ensembles, etc.
