PS Audio Humbuster Power Conditioners

PS Audio Humbuster Power Conditioners

DESCRIPTION

Humbuster

The Humbuster AC is a unique AC power device that goes between your equipment and the AC power receptacle in the home. The HBAC lowers or eliminates the DC found on almost every home's AC line. Once removed, transformers inside your equipment no longer hum, become more efficient and perform better. A must have for any serious high-end AV system. This unit does not fix ground loop hums that appear in the speakers.

If you have hum in the speaker, this product will most likely not fix it.

I have a high end audio system in terms of both electronics and speakers. I have a Lexicon CX-7 amplifier that has a massive torroidal transformer with 140 watts to all channels. It's a $4,000 7-channel amp. When I brought it home, it was buzzing from inside the unit (not from the speakers). I brought it back to be serviced and it passed with flying colors. Long story short, the problem was NOT my amplifier but finding out after weeks of debugging and hours with electricians that I had DC current on my home electricity. I called Music Direct in Chicago and they suggested the PS Audio Hum Buster. I just plugged my Lexicon into the Humbuster III last night and the buzzing (which could be heard 30 feet away at times is completely GONE!!!! I cannot believe that this little things works. I've never written a review before but after suffering through almost 6 weeks of testing, electricians, debugging, etc. I am beyond overjoyed to report that if you have DC current on your line and if you have very high-end and sensitive equipment effected by it, then this thing for sure does the trick. Don't believe me? Call Music Direct or any retailer and talk about your problem with them. If they recommend the Humbuster, I guarantee they will let you try and take it back if it doesn't work. I can't thank enough Lexicon tech support, all the folks at Audiogon in the forums, and my local high-fi retailer in helping me find a solution that JUST WORKS. OH and you're probably wondering about the sound? Well, I was concerned about this unit degrading my audio performance and dynamics. What I CAN tell you after just 3 hours of casual listening is that I for sure--absolutely for sure--have more detail and smoothness in my audio. I have not *yet* done critical listening and an A/B comparison to see if the dynamics have suffered any. That's coming this week. But, all I can say is darn am I impressed and happy!!!! NOTE: I also have a high-end power conditioner. Power conditioners (Fuhrman, Panamax, Shunyata etc.) do not filter out DC current!!! That is why my power conditioner did nothing. This product ONLY does DC filtering.

Strength:

Small, rock solid construction and it plain works!

Weakness:

Color only off white.

I wanted to take the time to post a quick review of the Humbuster. I was having severe noise problems with a brand new high-end amplifier in my system. I called the manufacturer and they referred me to PS Audio. I purchased the HB with some hesitation as I have tried some other brands of power-conditioners. I must say Im blown away! My Amp, along with an ultimate outlet and the Humbuster are dead quiet. I have a high-end system upwards of 15k, and was very bummed thinking there was nothing I can do, but go back to a regular receiver, instead of separates based on my house wiring, or spending too much money on an electrician etc. I do installs on the side for friends and will be starting my own co. this year. The Humbuster is on the short-list of must have gear for any good home theater system. Good sound starts @ the wall!
