Strength:

radio does work (but how can one possibly ruin THAT?)

Weakness:

Badly designed/constructed CD-player destined to stop functioning.

We accidentally had 2 of these, just after we bought one, someone gave us another. BOTH of these gave the "No Disc" error within a few months of meagre use. when you open up the the CD lid and jiggle the cd-lense a bit, sometimes it works again.

Definitely unacceptable design- and/or build quality, way below COBY-grade. Another SONY item, a $400 minidisc recorder stopped working completely too. (conveniently just after the 3 month guarantee period.) SONY, what the hell do you think you are doing?

Strength:

Small size, radio, cd, and cassette capabilities.

Weakness:

CD player failed in one week. New replacement failed right out of the box.

Needed an affordable boombox for job site locations. This one has CD, radio, and cassette so I thought it might be a good choice. Definitely not. After one week and no more than 4 CDs the CD Player stopped working (keeps displaying "no disc" even when a disc is inserted). Returned to the store (I've since read where the no disc problem is common with this model), got a new replacement, it displayed "no disc" immediately, it never worked once. Returned it and got something else. Don't waste your time, Sony blew it on this.

Similar Products Used:

1970s era Sony mono cassette/radio player. It lasted for about 20 years until the cassette stopped working at all. Not bad.
