Strength:

Clear picture

Weakness:

Must be kept unplug or firmware corrupts and will not read DVDs. Will not read VCDs.

Not a bad DVD player if you could leave it plugged in. I used a power strip to disconnect from power, then it works OK. Tried a VCD on it and it couldn't play it.

This is my first DVD player, and while I can see I will outgrow it in a year or so, I am very pleased with it's overall performance. The clarity of the picture on my 27" television has nearly made me pack up all of my VHS tapes, and the sound is flawless. Operation is uncomplicated, appearance is good, and connections were clearly marked. The S-video connection is definitley the way to go for clarity and ease of operation. I do notice occasionally that there is a slight pause during layer changes, but these do not detract from an overall good experience. Good entry level player.
