This is a very good VCR when recording at SP speed and an average one on EP. The build quality is fantastic as it is made in Japan. But it is definitely too costly. I like the remote and its features and I really have only one gripe and that is, when you rewind an older tape that has a little more resistance due to wear and tear, it takes forever. My prior Mitsubishi and current Sony do not have this problem. Phillips (parent company) should do something about this, as it is very aggravating.
