Purchaed in Mexico City around 2003-2004. Works excellent where ever we take it. Easy to put outside in nice weather and inside in the winter.

Great value!

Strength:

SImple design. Classic looks. Great am / fm reception.

Weakness:

It is a bit hard to use if you need reading glasses.

We purchase the little Sony in 2002 for a bedroom system. I liked the look of the unit as it complimented our furniture.

I was very happy with the radio reception, (we live in the country so stations are often hard to receive) sonic quality and the lack of hiss and reasonable fidelity.

A few years ago I replaced the machine with a Tivoli all in one and regretted it. The $1,000 Tivoli had amp hiss, the CD skipped and radio reception was poor. Yeah it looked nice. I gave the Sony to my sister in law and she loves it!

I' ve purchased several so called high end executive stereos, all much more expensive and did not have the results of the little Sony.

I found on eBay a unit for $50, so it will go into the bedroom - bliss again ...

Didn't need it.

by the way my 30 year old mini Aiwa seperate componets is still noise free, why can't stereo manufacturers realize that audible hiss from $500 - $1000 unit is unacceptable?

Strength:

small, stylish

Weakness:

no sub out, but not needed if this is just being used as a bookshelf system

Very nice little system that we use in our living room / dining room. Small, stylish, and decent sound for the price. I looked at a number of other systems from JVC, Pioneer, and Yamaha (sony was actually my last choice when I started looking) that were larger and more expensive, but found that this little system sounded just as good and did not have any of the fluff features or a useless tape deck. (who still buys casettes??)

Great sounding unit, crisp and swell bass

I was surprised by the great sound this unit put out. My opinion does have better sound then the more expensive units. You will not be disapointed with this unit. Thanks

Strength:

Small Footprint

Weakness:

Not too much Power.

This is a great stereo for background music. It won't blow your socks off, but the bass response from the 4 ohm speakers is impressive because they are ported at the rear for direct reflection of bass (place this thing near a wall or in a wall unit).
The remote does everything that is required, although I found the programming of the AM/FM stations to be a little confusing especially changing them.
The unit functions as an alarm clock which is handy.
There is only one input; if you need more buy something else.
The function descriptions on the front buttons are hard to see.
Sony suggests you close the CD tray with the button only, what's up with that - most are push closed AND button closed as user preference.
The CD prism on the front is somewhat unnecessary.
If you just want to listen to CD, radio and 1 other input appliance, then this is a good product for you.
