Trebble speaker are very directional.

I have just recently bought this product, but with a different name (NS-11-Q). After having demoed various other systems, this was the one where I liked the sound the best - and the design is good too. I tested it in stores against models costing 3-6 times more. Actually it puzzled me, but I found that one reason might be that I usually play music at low volumes. I do not want my ears pushed in by too much bass or volume - I want the sound to be true to life. To me this system gave me that.

Though I have little basis for comparison; I think this system is amazing. The looks alone would be enough, but the system is quite capable of filling a medium size room with great sound.

I have a realitivly small dorm room and the NS-7 fills my room and the hallway with great quality and high power sound at a moderate volume setting of 15/35.

The system is very minimalist-looking but has several features above and beyond the average stereo in this price range. It has a very easily programable clock-timer system that functions as an alarm, timer, and sleep timer. The remote looks very minimal as well but has many programming functions. But the remote is very easy to use with one button activation for CD, tuner, and Aux.

If you are looking for an awesome looking stereo; the NS-7 is prefect. Sure you could get a better sounding stereo for the price, but nothing looks this good.

If you can get a deal on it, I would strongly suggest buying this system. You can't get a better looking and better sounding system for the price.

I can mirror most of what has been said about this system by the reviewers below. Just wanted to add my 5 cents regarding the purchase experience at uBid. You will be wise not to deal with the company that has dismal after service. Do not expect to get a problem resolved smoothly with this company.

I'm still going around in a circle over a month which should have been taken care of within a first week.

One button operation, Good looks, excelent bottom end. (Easy use by wife and kids which is why I purchased it)
All operations available on unit and remote. Easy hook up. Easy record operation (syncro). With my Technics SL7 (22year old) record deck and a preamp, it matches beautifully and looks as though it was made for the Pioneer unit. If you like music and have kids, a wife who's technophobic, valuable wall paper or a small room, or any combination of the above, buy this. Failing that, buy it anyway.

Tape deck spec not comparable with CD/tuner unit. Audible flutter when recording piano. Note detectable on store demo unit, so may improve with use. Speaker hook up connections poor and subwoffer speaker cable has small crimped connector at system unit end, so heavier cable cannot be substituted. (easily). System unit is fan cooled. This may cause problems in the future if internal dust build up is excessive.

As other reviewers have commented, this is exceptional. The NS-8 I tried for starters was OK, but was not a patch on the 7. I can now hear Bass organ notes I did'nt know existed. So far it has exceeded all my expectations with all the music I listen to, including rock, classical, Jazz and choral. It is relaxed performer, which feels as though it has much more power than the spec' suggests.

I agree with the positioning factor. I've found that aiming the speaker end of the sub-bass along the wall which suppports the satellite speakers with the port about 6 inches in from the corner of the room provides best imaging and bass response.
I've shoe horned some 2.5 mm cable into the satellite units. This also improves the top end slightly, though may be overkill, but it's what I had lying around. Buy it its brill, but do not by an NS-5, 8 or 9. It may look similar, the spec' may be very close, but it ain't the same. Gives Bose a run for it's money and probably sounds more pleasant.

NS-8 Used for 2 weeks and returned to store due to wow/flutter as mentioned above but much worse. Two other decks tried with identical problem. 3 other systems from Yamaha, Denon and Teac in same price bracket all have problems recording piano (and yes I know this shows tape at its worsed).

After 4 months of waiting I finally received my very own NS-7 system.My girlfriend, friends and even my grandparents agree... it looks nice.
The speaker-system needs a lot of experimenting to get the sound right, the satellite-speakers need to be placed wide apart! Bass and high tone are fine, but the midrange sounds a little strange.
The sound is nowhere near as good as my dad’s Quad system, but hey, it costs 8 times less… so you don’t hear me complaining.
If you need a mini system on a budget, you need the NS-7. If you need top-quality sound… get something else.

Hello, I am an audio enthusiast from Norway. During the last 10 years I have owned many high end audio systems, and one common factor for all has been large component sizes. So, finally my wife and I got tired of all these large black boxes and boring speaker cabinets.Last week I went to my audio store, and asked for a very small system with excellent sound. They showed me the new Pioneer NS-7, which is a super mini CD receiver and 3D speaker system (Total power output of 110 Watt!!). I liked both the design and sound and bough it for approx. 900$. I am getting more and more impressed with this system and wonder sometimes if manufacturers of high end equipment play a trick with naive "Audiophiles".

Hello, I purchaesd the NS-7 while I was a student in the UK. I was particularly amazed by the ability of this mini system to produce loud and clear base though I fell that is too little treble. As for the rest of the system I fell it deserves a second look. Until I find something better out there the NS-7 will always remain in my bedroom.
