Strength:

I've owned this for 18 years and it still sounds quite good, levels are very clear, of course at some high volume it gets a bit bad but you shouldn't even listen to with that volume so it's fine :) Piano and Classical music sounds so good on it considering it's so old by now. Japanese quality at it's best :) Guitar is also quite good! Not made for eletronical music but that doesn't really matter to be honest. The bass level is OK, if you want more you should consider buying a real dedicated subwoofer just for bass. Altough in my opinion it's just fine and enough.

Weakness:

There's not much to tell about bad stuff since it's excellent for this price point and at the time which was manufactured. Of course its not that good on some music but on most of it it's an excelent micro component system.

Had this system for over 10 years, I still love it.
To be clear, I replaced the original speakers, first with a pair of Boston Acoustics CR7 speakers, and then with Totem Acoustics Dreamcatcher bookshelves and matching sub.
This unit is held back by the silly little tin cans it comes with, imo.
You really had to turn it up to fill the room with the JVC speakers. With a pair of decent speakers, it gets loud at a much lower volume level on the unit,19 vs 30.
The subwoofer output is a nice touch as well.
All and all I'm pleased.

Strength:

Sound Quality, elegant look.

Weakness:

Complexity of programming set up for radio station and no battery back up. It does hold programs for up to 24 hours says the manual.

Purchased on close out table at great price compared to market on web. Superb sound at this price point. Out performs anything under $250. Elegant features. Hope it is not too complex for other users in household

Strength:

I/O's, sound quality, sub output

Weakness:

no fade out when using sleep mode

I was pleasantly surprised with the sound quality. It sounds much better at home than in the store. It is a nice looking compact unit that can go anywhere in the home because it has a small footprint. I will be adding a small subwoofer to help fill out the sound. Overall I am very happy with this mini-system
