Strength:

Beautiful wood finish on the speakers. Elegantly designed. Sound is decent considering I did not run it with a subwoofer, though it has outputs for one.

Weakness:

Dang thing quit on me after a very short year. Only reason I gave it 2 stars. If it was still working, 5 stars.

Great little unit. Beautifully crafted and quite good sounding, at least to me. Unfortunattely, the amp section quit after a 2 yrs. Very light use, then I moved and it was in its box for a few months. I finally got it out and plugged it in. DOA. Out of warranty, of course. Too pretty to toss out, since the pre-amp section is working. I may open it up and see if an internal fuse blew. Meanwhile, I plan to buy another one and hope it lasts more than a year.

Customer Service

Out of warranty. Stored in its original box in the attic.

Strength:

Size, Look and ease of use just add to the sound quality making this a perfect sound system for our sun room

Weakness:

Would like to see more audio systems compatible with computers with some sort of ram or hard drive for .WMA or .MP3 compatability. really not a weakness but stating how I listen to music.

I cant say that I know that much about audio as some of the other reveiwers but I felt stronly enough about this product to write a review. I bought this for my wife as a christmas present and cant believe the sound from this. If good sound quality and space is an issue this is the sound system for you. I am really happy with the results of this purchase. Truthfully I bought it for the looks. it was the sleekest of all small systems at Best Buy and Tweeter. To my suprise the sound is exellent. Whoa am I lucky

Strength:

elegant appearance, good sound

Weakness:

noisy lazer transport(sounds scratchy like something is dragging and ginding).lack of good solid bass which is to be expected of course.

Was in the market for a sound source for the home gym I recently completed and a boom box seemed to be the obvious choice. After going to my local circuit city(always a bit of a chore)and finding their selection of boom boxes was lacking(many items out of stock)I happened along the mini systems on my way out the door. The JVC executive series leaped out at me.I had no idea anything like them existed! What a fine example of good design and simple elegance! I proceeded at that point to research these beauties a little further and happened upon this site.Reading the reviews here pushed me towards the fs-7000 with it's wonderful little cherry wood speakers. They really do invite close inspection.Well I set the system up "encapsulating" my gym and let her rip.The laser/lens assm does make a lot of noise when it tracks to read cds but this is not heard during the playing of music, only when cueing up songs. I found this system to be a very pleasant surprise even after reading the gushing reviews on this site. Not as much volume as a top end boom box but such fine articulation cannot be ignored. The closest thing I can compare my setup to is like sitting inside giant headphones when I'm working out.The soundstage is almost spooky. The entire setup is somewhat corner biased so the bass is not bad but I could envision a small subwoofer down the road. My only problem now is I find myself stopping my workout to listen to the music! All in all I'm very pleased. I ended up buying my unit at costco for 299.99. That was the best price I found anywhere including the net. Most prices were in the low 300's.For this price I consider it a good value. We'll see about durability down the road. I have had fair to poor luck with stereo components in the past so I'll keep my fingers crossed. My thanks to all who participated at this site and the valuble info contained within.

Strength:

Very good sound -- crips, clear, full, especially in the mid and high registers. Subwoofer needed for lows.

Weakness:

noisy transport mechanism -- unacceptably noisy for low volume listening in a quiet room.

I loved this machine at mid volume (didn't try high volume) but had to return it because the transport mechanism is so noisy at low volume in a quiet room that it is distracting at best -- and unnerving if the music contains brief periods of silence between notes, as with solo classical guitar. Those potentially poignant silences are turned into grinding noises from the transport mechanism.

Strength:

Beautiful appearance. The cherrywood enclosures have a deep, rich finish that is impressive. The main unit with the brushed metal front panel and glass cd cover is also nice. The sound quality is good considering the size of the unit.

Weakness:

No mute button on the remote or main unit. The display of the unit always returns to a default setting when the unit is turned on or off.

I use the unit in a small manhattan apartment. I looked at other "attractive" compact stereo systems such as the BEO systems, but the sound quality on those systems was so-so and the price was outrageous.

The cherrywood speakers appear to be very well made and finished, and the sound quality is much better than I expected, especially in the midrange. However, the bass tends to fall apart at high volumes. All in all, I prefer the sound quality to the boomboxes which I have owned in a similar price range.

My main gripe is that the display settings always go back to a default setting (the analog and digital clock) whenever the unit is turned on or off, which is unecessarily annoying. Otherwise I have been very happy with the unit.

Strength:

Style, sound quality overall.

Weakness:

Noisy CD drive.

Good product except for the noisy CD drive. Not sure if it's the motor or the transport mechanism or what, but it is really annoying at low volumes. Sounds like something is dragging across the CD. But, it looks good and the sound is suprisingly good (other than the CD at low volumes) for a small system. I would recommend getting the sub-woofer with it.

Strength:

Incredible sound quality for such a small package. It looks like a million bucks too.

Weakness:

Sod all (that means nothing).

considering the systems diminutive size, the sound quality is simply spectacular. This system is the king of midrange, vocal clarity is absolutely stunning. Alright the bass is not earth shattering but once again, considering the outright size of those gorgeous cherry speakers, it's impressive nonetheless. I purchased it for only $400 Australian, ostensibly for a second bedside table unit but having tried it with my TV I decided to throw away the mini system and use it permanently with the telly. With a suitable subwoofer the sound quality should be sensational. This system really does prove that it's not the size that matters it's what you do with it!!!

Strength:

The apearance.

Weakness:

Sound is not so dynamic.

I must disagree with previews opinions regarding FS7000. How a 3’’cone full range speaker can be so good to reproduce accurate bass and trebles as good? Are you nuts (no offence) or JVC have a super-technology at a super-low price ($450 regular price – I saw in England this system at £150)?
I didn’t buy this executive – and the reason isn’t money – I have a good Panasonic PM15 (bi-amp) in my bedroom. But I listen JVC-FS5000 (very similar with JVC-FS7000 – except 3 mode gain system) and, comparing with CD/tuner-only micro-system Panasonic SC-PM01, with 2 way speakers (OK?), the bass of JVC seems ordinary and the JVC’s trebles sucks – practically they aren’t there (personal I think that the highest frequency reproduced by JVC is 12-13kHz or so). What about the power – I’m not a kid to take as good that the 2x13W are enough, OK? And, by the way, even the PM01 (2x15W) sounds much stronger than that FS, and much dynamic.

What is really great at the FS series? The looks. FS look like a super-micro, I must agree. For that I give 5 stars – for sound only 2 (FS means Freakin’ Style, not Sound). Total – 3!

Conclusion
I just say that (again and again) – you, who want to buy some audio, listen, listen and listen again before to decide which is better. Don’t look at the look! That’s all!

Bye!

Strength:

appearance

Weakness:

remote controller

it looks decent and sounds OK.... good bass for its speaker size..
The speaker cabinets are made of real wood.. not a cheesy particle board. LCD pannel also looks great..
Honestly, I bought this unit for its beautiful appearance..
I didn't expect awesome sound quality for a mini stereo system... You should compromise the sound for the size...
The only drawback is its remote controller..
The remote controller is very small and buttons are not logically layed out...
Oh... another weakness... its aux channel is so weak that you should turn the volume knob way up when you hook something up to aux channel...

This little system is very impressive and gives a sound better than most other mini-systems on the market. Actually it should be classified as a micro-system because the speakers are only 5" tall. It produces a rich sounding bass much more declarative than one might expect. The highs and mids blend nicely together. It also features a subwoofer output which makes it almost perfect. Although there are products than may sound better, you can't beat the size-cost-performance of this little delight. It is also aesthetically designed so that it looks classy and would actually look nice compared to some big black boxes taking up space. It's worth a look but for those of you who need lots of power, stick with the big boy stuff.
