I have had the Aiwa NSX-AJ500 for over 9 years now. I spend most of my time in my room where it is located. I have a fairly large room, and even on the volume setting of 4-6 is more the loud enough. I use it everyday for at least 2-3 hours per day. When I am listening to different types of music I really turn the system up to about 11-16 and it has extraordinary sound and bass, especially for its age!
I do consider this to be a great buy, and a great product to have in the home

Problems that I have found with this unit is the clock. You can set it without it blinking. Overall - fair unit.

This is my first mini-system, moving up from the plain $60 cd player, and it is great, I love its sound, and the remote control is super-handy. The surround sound speakers are a great effect. Good system.

bass, sound quality

surround speakers are useless, unless you use it with a vcr or dvd, I would reccomend the nsx-aj500 instead, no surround speakers, but 10 more watts per stereo speaker

This unit is one of the best units i have ever tested in the way of minisystems, it is great for listening to rock, metal, and rap. Lots of bass! dual 6 3/4 in. woofers.
