I think one of the biggest strengths of Q3 is soundalive. Q3 not only supports various sound fields even for video, but you can also manually create specific sounds that you like. If you are a user who values sound quality, you will surely like the product. When it comes to sound quality, Q3 does not fall behind high-end products.

Of the wide variety of sound fields of Soundalive, I personally like the vocal function. With the vocal function, you can clearly and accurately deliver the human voice without being interfered by musical instrument or sound effect. The basic sound fields are enough to listen to music, but you can also set various values such as EQ, 3D&Bass, Clarity, Audio Upscaler and concert Hall size&level to set your own sound field. This is quite fun! I've used various brands including Sony and Kenwood, but Q3 offers the widest variety of settings.

With Q3, play speed does not entail sound distortion. Usually, if you increase play speed, the high tone changes to a sort of a funny voice, but for Q3, the sound itself remained unchanged even when you increased or reduced the play speed. When I listen to audio book, I use the slow play and Q3 is really handy because there is no sound distortion and sounds like... human voice! You can play the sound at slower or faster speed of three levels.

Although the product is low-end, it supports various codec such as Divx and Xvid that you can watch videos without having to convert the file. It's real convenient but the LCD is too small and not high resolution that it's not that good to watch videos.

However, the excellent sound quality, compact and light body, and refined design are key strengths of Q3, not to mention its affordable price! Q3 definitely tops products in the similar price range.

MP3 players recently launched in the market increasingly seem to mimic Apple's design. Products with wide design variety were introduced every month in the past, but it seems like the products are not as diverse as before, and some are outright copies of Apple's products. However, leading companies such as Samsung and Sony have their own unique style. Sony's 2010 products all come with buttons that look like Mickey Mouse. It's cute, for sure, but not my taste, so I was hesitating until I discovered Samsung's Q3.

In fact, Q3 has a very simple design. But the refined and neat design, along with the eye-grabbing vibrant color, helps the product stand out. In particular, the white-pink match will win the hearts of many female users. The simple design further highlights the pink color, yet managing to be cute and fancy without being excessive. Also, the aluminum material adds to the luxurious feel. The user interface uses the same color as the product, giving a finishing touch to the design - a clear point of differentiation compared to other products where the product design and user interface are not aligned. However, it would have been even greater if there were more color options. It's a pity that Q3 only comes in white and black.

The sound quality of Q3 (which is a basic feature of mp3 players) is as satisfactory as its design. Apparently, the SoundAlive function is an upgraded version of Samsung's previous DNSe3.0 sound engine. Expert reviews say that 3D amplifies sense of space and clarity to the sound. With the Concert Hall function, the stereo headphone is enough to make you feel as if you were sitting in a real concert hall. You can adjust the size and level value to change the size of the concert hall and the vibration of the music. If you maximize the size and level, you will really feel as if you were in a large concert hall.

The LCD is not that big, but you can still watch video clips. I have clips of my cats and watch them whenever I feel down. Of course, I do not plan to watch any movies or soap operas with it.

I definitely think that YP-Q3 will be an excellent choice for those looking for nice design and good sound quality, rather than complex features.

YP-Q3 is a best player for its price

Hey, I just bought it about one week ago – I really was looking for something new in the market of pmp and came across this Samsung YP-Q3. I fall in love with it from the first sight. And now I want to share my review on it.
The first thing that catches your eye is its design which slightly reminds new iPhone 4 – wide glass screen and aluminum frame, which gives it a little weight but does not distort the whole design. I think it is very unique for players of this middle-category to look such nice, and I absolutely amazed how Samsung managed to deal with that! Navigation button is good, have nothing to say about it except pushing it a little bit of a challenge, but once you get used to this, it becomes easier.
When you listen to it, it becomes clear that their new SoundAlive function is really makes miracles. First, you can use it while listening to any mp3 file applying different presets like Auto, Vocal, Instrument, Tweeter, Big Bass, Café, Concert Hall, etc. I am not sure how it works, but when you apply them the sound changes somehow which creates really interesting sounding, sometimes even unexpected, but all this for those who like it. Personally, I leave Auto and don’t worry to change it. So far, I think this is one of the best features of Q3! I remember in previous model Q2 the sound quality was also really good, but Q3 seems to be much more approved model. I hope they are going to perform better in next generation of Q-line)))
Watching video is also very good. I am sure many people would say that its 2.2” LCD is just not enough to watch video fully enjoying them, but I would tell them that it depends on a person, and on a quality of video file – even if the quality is not good when you shrink it to 2.2” screen size it becomes better. That is a fact!! As for me, I am completely OK watching ‘Friends’, music videos, etc on it while going on a subway))
It easily connects to your PC with a mini-USB port, so transferring your favorite mp3s would not be a problem, though the wire is a little bit short, I think)) It also serves as a charging wire connecting to USB port on your computer. Charging is really fast.
Well, in my opinion, this Q3 has all rights to be N1 hit among mp3 players. And the most important is costs moderately compare to other pmps in middle price range. It is definitely worth the money you pay for it! Love it! ^^

YP-Q3, recently launched by Samsung, is an MP3 player that promises much more than the previously well-received Q1 and Q2.

Q3 is very strong in music play, the most basic function of MP3 player. At the IFA 2010, where the new product was showcased, Samsung introduced an upgraded version of DNSe called Sound Alive. And Q3 also comes with Sound Alive function. While the former DNSe used genre for categorization, Sound Alive has Auto, Normal, Vocal, Music Instrument, Tweeter, Big Bass, Cafe, Concert Hall, User 1, 2 to enable the users to listen to the sound of their choice such as vocal, bass and musical instruments. The device plays the sound closest to what the user is looking for.

Q3 promises noise-free and clear sound even at maximum volume and the ear phone that comes with Q3 reproduces top-notch beat, presence and resonance. Also, its sound has depth and is not shallow. It's totally a personal choice, but for those like me who like sound with depth, you will love the sound of Q3.

Another strength of YP-Q3 is the EarCare function - which optimizes the volume to protect the user's ears. When listening to music or watching video for a long time using the ear phone, the device automatically controls the music in 3 levels based on the noise level allowed per day, minimizing ear fatigue. Ever had hurting ears because the next song plays in much higher volume? This is because media files can come in different volumes. For me, Q3 not only protects my ears, but my heart as well! : )

YP-Q3 supports various audio codec such as Xvid, MPEG4, WMV and H.264, enabling the user to watch videos without separate encoding process. It also offers basic functions to watch videos such as screen size control, skip and bookmark. However, you cannot control the subtitle sync and screen size control is not applicable to all videos. And 2.2 inch LCD isn’t the perfect size to watch videos.

Other functions include photos, text, voice recording and FM radio.

Q3 is a real 'return to the basics' product fulfilling its role as a 'sound player'. I would say this is the biggest strength of Q3. In fact, what could be better for a MP3 player?
