Sansui AU-X1
1 Reviews
rating  5 of 5
Description: The AU-X1 was the flagship in the Sansui portfolio between 1979-83. It is one of the mightiest and best sounding amps of its time - and beyond. 160 wpc rms at 8 ohms, weight almost 28 kg. More a power amp with controls than a conventional integrated amp, but it has phono MM/MC and many other in-/outputs. Lacks tone controls, though. <br>Some (first version) tend to oscillation problems, others (later) don't. One of the best amps ever.

Bottom Line:
Got two of these beasts and use them as power amps only in a bi-amping configuration, one to feed a complete channel/loudspeaker.
Extremely fast, strong and punchy with sweet midrange and high frequency. Rugged product, had no problems during the last 10-12 years... and the amps have been built around 1980!
Maybe the best among Japanese amps of its time and even today a surprisingly very, very good sounding amp.
