Paired with Nad C545BEE CD player and Bose Acoustimass 5 Mk III speakers as my second audio system. The sound quality is sweet and warm. A very good stereo amplifier indeed (and also compliment to the CD player as well). Well done NAD for such good products. K H Chan

Great amp! I have it paired with a NAD C565BEE CD player and a pair of Quad 21L speakers. What a rockin' system. I love the full, musical bass, the lush midrange, and the crisp but not overbearing highs. This sytem has me pulling out all of my old albums (okay, the use of the term "albums" dated me) and listening to them all over again. I'm hearing details that I've never heard before. That's very cool, and I'm getting an incredible amount of enjoyment out of my music once again.

Jaxwired and alexxbadea nailed the description of the sound of this amp, so I won't belabor the point. It's a fantastic amp. I think the C325BEE is possibly a better value, because you get close for less money, but I listened to them both before making a decision and I happened to like the sound of the C355 better. It sounded more powerful, and yet more refined, to my ears. YMMV

Others wrote that the C325BEE is better than the C355BEE . I fully agree with them.
The C325 is worth five stars, but only three would give the C355

I have this NAD C355BEE for some months and before I had the Marantz PM60 OSE and this NAD was a major improvement over the Marantz! Now the bass is strong, deep and not boomy as it was before, while the midrange is transparent and revealing with excelent treble resolution. Voices are very well rendered, detailed and controled. Overall this is a crisp sounding amp, with a nice power output that handles my B&W 684.
I partnered it the NAD C545BEE cd player and the results are outstanding, this is a perfect combo, so I advise this amp with no restrictions and don't pay attention to those 5 stars that WHF gave it, it's worth 5 stars, maybe the person who listened to it had a curtain in front of the speakers!! Buy it with confidence

Purchased this powerhouse two weeks ago and my B&W speakers boomed out with new sound and revealed new levels of details in the music. Remote is abit shaky but not a major issue. be good friends with your neighbours before turning this amp. to 12 o`clock. its loud, excellent sound and very pleasant even at low volumes.
Its an NAD with all that comes with it.. super product reg value & music.

I've had this amp for over a year now. When I first got it I was amazed with the improvement over my old 2 channel yamaha stereo amp. I always thought the bass was too recessed with the yamaha. With the NAD, the bass is more visceral but without being boomy. It's just what you want. When a guitar is played the low frequency part of that music is conveyed with fabulous realism due to the excellent bass performance. Since day one I've also felt the midrage to be outstanding. It is articulate and clean. Midrange is the amps strong suit. I listen to acoustic, pop, folk, country, jazz. Anything that is well recorded with talented musicians. This amp is a good fit for this type of listening.

About 4 months ago I purchased the NAD C545bee CD player to go with this amp. WOW! The amp was good before, but this NAD CD player is the absolute perfect mate for this NAD amp. Voices and midrange perfomance is now jaw dropping with good recordings. However, this setup will reveal bad recordings. I've had to eliminate a couple of CDs from rotation that use to sound ok. But the plus side, many CD's that use to bore me are now newly exciting to listen to. For the price of these two components, I cannot recommend them highly enough. When paired together, they will compete with pricier alternatives. I could afford to upgrade to pricier amps, but truly have no disire to do so. I'm spending money on speakers instead...

Strength:

Great look, solid built, two speaker outputs, many many connection types, tone controls two pre-outs,very very nice sound

Weakness:

Remote doesen't work from all angles, ugly remote

Bought this Nad amplifier one month ago.I am the proud owner of two Monitor Audio BR6 speakers.Every owner of this speakers know they have metallic tweeters which of course are pretty hard to pair to.Anyway, tried a lot of amplifiers marantz, grundig, rotel.I must sayi was surprised to find this unit working perfectly for my speakers.Very neutral sound, great bass i would say perfect, very clear mids and not hard and annoying highs. The c355bee is also very user firendly and has a lot of rear connections. The tone controls are also perfect and very subtle. The only minus i can say about is the remote ir sensor,it just won't work from any angle and thats a minus but happily it has a rear Ir-Out connection so you can connect an outside sensor. That's beeing said it's a beautiful unit for this price and even for more and it perfectly defines the typically Nad sound.Buy it with confidence!
P.S: I've also seen the whathifi.co.uk review on this unit and it got 4 stars(wich isn't bad at all) but it could have gotten easily 5 and i personally don't agree with their point of view like for example"the bass can be too proeminent" or so

Purchased at the beginning of July 2008.

The good points
- excellent sound quality - a real warmth with plenty of authority
- plenty of power
- robust chassis.
- Nice styling (not everyones cup of tea though) - that said the 'graphite' color is essentially black, and a clear move away from NAD's iconic battleship grey color - they now look like every other hi-fi manufacturer...

The bad points:
- The remote has the fastest ramp up of the volume knob I've ever experienced - basically 3-4 light touches of the remote takes you from zero to LOUD. You need to use the knob on the remote for finer control
- Poor integration with other NAD components - when selecting the Tuner input on the amp remote - it also changes the FM/AM band on the tuner (a NAD c425) - so you can't switch between a CD and an FM station. Not a bid deal, as you can hit the tuner button twice to return to the FM station, but its a lousy design nevertheless
- The bass is a little too heavy handed at times
- BUILD QUALITY. After around 3 weeks of use - when I switched the amp on using the remote - the amp's power protection circuit kicked in, and the amp refused to operate (the status LED reverts to red). Disconnecting the amp from all inputs and speakers and unplugging overnight failed to reset the circuit.

My local dealer arranged a swap for a new replacement...which did exactly the same thing 2 weeks later!

I now read that NAD has had a history of reliability issues. I may have just been unlucky - the C355BEE was released in May 2008 - so its possible the two units I had were among the first units off the assembly line that had issues that would have hopefully been resolved in later builds.

Have replaced it with a Marantz PM6002 which sounds brilliant (admittedly lower power but more than sufficient for most), looks brilliant, and so far has worked flawlessly (had it about two months).

I won't be buying NAD again....
