A friend with a music store gave me this early 80's Kenwood amp ( that was actually owned for 30 years by a monastary of musical monks, I guess only driven on Sundays) to drive a pair of Magnepan MMG's I bought last summer on eBay. I had heard another friends MMG's with x-over mods and custom 200+/ch amp and was knocked out (he has had speakers in the $10,000/pair range and prefers the MMG's). My MMG's are stock and damaged but still sing with this amp. I don't know the actual power into the MMG's 4 ohm load but I'm guessing in excess of 130w/ch. With an OppoDV-981HD CD player and quality recordings (Steely Dan, Tower of Power, GRP, etc) it all sounds clean, crisp and clear. I think this amp is a good representative of the old bulletproof vintage Japanese designs they shipped here when they wanted to beat the Mac's and Marantz's. Quite comparable to the same era Yamaha products I used to sell.
