Strength:

High speed FF/RW is a strength when using shorter length tapes (T120-160), but T-180 and higher are to be avoided.
Solid construction for a low-priced consumer vcr.
Fair number of useful features.
Low cost.

Weakness:

Tape length guide is set manually, so time remaining reading is little more than a guess if one uses more than one tape length.
High speed FF/RW contributes to short life span of tapes, especially tapes longer than T160, eventually causing tapes to snag and crinkle.
Remote control buttons are spongey, requiring multiple pushes to get a response over time.
Remote requires internal cleaning over time as grease and grime build up inside.
Remote buttons become stiff and sluggish in temps lower than about 65 degrees.
Picture quality, even at SP setting, not as crisp as similarly priced Sony.

One of the better consumer vcr's I've used in the last 5 years.
Picture quality has remained high on the SP setting, although EP quality has degraded despite regular maintenance.
This vcr is one of a dying breed that still includes index search, as well as zero return and commercial skip (fast forward in 30 sec. increments).
Internal parts have held up well, with no major breakdowns.
