Strength:

Plays through a lot of scratched discs and discs that have given cheaper DVD players trouble at friends' houses. Good video and audio quality. Good feature set, Zoom, flipping through audio options/subtitles/preset video settings (you are given Dynamic 1/2, Cinema 1/2, and custom, if I recall) is easy to do with the remote. One feature I was looking for was A-B repeat and this worked just fine. I used to throw Data CDs filled with music and after clutzing around with the root-menu you'd potentially have days worth of music if you filled all 5 discs with data-cds. Recognized photo CDs fine, and decent slideshow capabilites. Load time wasn't that bad. Carousel was relatively quiet.

Weakness:

Well, it died after only 2 or 3 years. I remember living with roomates who had ten-year old CD players from Sony. I have a feeling longevity is for the nostalgic these days, though, planned obsolescence drives the economy and all that.
I didn't like the front display, the way the LCD was set back and some mirror reflected it to the front - was difficult to see if you were not looking straight at it. I want to look straight at the TV, not the DVD player. Whatever.
No HDMI. I dunno why you'd bother buying this DVD changer nowadays. It was great at the time, 12bit/108 video DAC technology and everything, SACD (I never really had the opportunity to really use this as I've only got a 2-ch setup, though), but nowadays getting a player/changer without HDMI would be silly since it's fairly well standard.

I believe I purchased this in 2005. Had it for about two years at least, finally just up and died on me this weekend, April 2008. Won't play any discs I put in there. Warranty is long since expired, and I'm guessing it will be easier to replace it since I'd like to upgrade to HDMI and 1080p anyways. Not sure what happened, just stopped recognizing any discs I put in - CD/DVD or otherwise. Overall it was a good player, however.
