I purchased this to improve the sound of the 40" Toshiba XV645U TV I have in the master bedroom, which produces an excellent picture (after some tweaking) but poor sound quality.

Installation was easy, and "teaching" the Surroundbar to respond to the television's own remote was a snap. The sound quality is GREATLY improved - smooth clear sound, dialog is enhanced, and the subwoofer adds depth to the sound without being overwheliming or "boomy" so it appears to be well-matched to the surroundbar itself.

I've only had ONE instance of trouble - while watching The Jackal (the Bruce Willis version on BlueRay) the sound bar cut out during some of the cannon fire - I guess it was overwhelmed by the sound level and shut itself off to prevent damage. It restarted just fine, and I've had no further instances of this happening in the last 6 months.

Polk DOES overdo the "surround" part in their advertising - I don't care how they play with phase and crosstalk, you're just not going to get a surround sound effect from something this size - it most certainly is NOT a substitute for a "real" 5.1 or better home theater system. But remember, it's in my master bedroom - and it works just fine there.

So temper your expectations, wait to buy it on sale as I did ($500 MSRP is TOO HIGH!!) and you should be happy.
