Strength:

Sound quality

Weakness:

No phono input, and supports only 1 cassette deck. No component video switching. Second set of speakers can't be driven from independent inputs.

This system has absolutely beautiful and clean sound. It sounds just as good or better than sound from receivers twice the price of this home theater in a box. If you look at other items in its price range, its very clearly better than Sony and Panasonic. There's a Yamaha system thats a notch higher in price, but I liked the sound quality from this one better. The Receiver is the jewel of the system. The speakers are real sharp looking and sound great. I only wish they sold a set of matching stands but we're getting away from affordable here. For shoppers out there looking for features, there's a lot of room for upgrading, but for what price? Among the things you might want more is an additional set of cassette inputs. Good cassette decks are single cassette models, and people typically have two of them. With this system you'd get only one cassette hook-up. Also, there's no phono input so you can't hook up your turntable. There's limited second room capability - it has A & B speakers capability, but they can't be driven from separate inputs. Also, the speaker wire supplied with the unit is not home theater grade in my opinion, and I just replacced it with my own speaker-wire. BOTTOM LINE: Entry level features, pro level sound quality in an affordable package (was on sale for $300 at Fry's)

Strength:

Crisp sound, easy to hook up

Weakness:

you will need a better subwoofer cable and a coax or opticap cable for your dvd player

Wow this home theater system is great! The sound is crisp even when the sound is loud. This company deserve to be known. It makes better products than any other company for the price. For less than 500$ you can't find something better. I would say I never heard a best home theater system than this one for less than 1250$. If you buy it from bestpriceaudiovideo.com, shipping is free even for Canada. And if you want something loud, this one is for you. I can't put the sound to max because it's too loud. Speakers are big, very big but this is what I love from this company; they don't sacrifice sound for space. It's ugly but it works! don't trow your money on Sony or Panasonic systems, they don't worth it. Just try this unknow company, you will not be disapointed. If you don't trust me go to www.cnet.com They have honest reviews and Onkyo is their choice for home theater system. They never tested a better home theater system for the sound.
