Review 2 of 3

Summary:
Picture- excellent. Have seen the picture on a 1.8M screen - no colour bleed,
stable picture.

Audio
- Very good. Built in DD 5.1 - sounds good. CDs sound a little flat so
don't buy this for music.
- DTS out - haven't tested

Features
- Excellent remote control.
- Easy to use menu system

Overall
- Great value for money. Highly recommended if you have an amp with 6 channel
input.

Review 3 of 3

Summary:
I have not had the chance to review this product against others. I justown one ...

Hardware : it is a fully equiped player with component, S-VHS and composite
video out, optical and coaxial digitial outs, separate 5 channel dolby
digital out, 2 input mikes for Karoke if you are into that stuff, and
headphone out. It comes in champagne gold only, not my colour choice
when the rest of my hardware happens to be black - sigh. It is also
DTS compatible. I am unsure about mpeg, but I surely do not care.

Mine was supplied all region, and I have not had a disk fail to play so
far, and this includes various notorious disks.

Menus and configuration seem easy enough, although the only time that
I play in here is when switching to wide screen for the odd anamorphic
disks. I have a sony tv that can manually be switched into widescreen,
so the DVD player needs to be switched at the same time, but image
quality is improved.

The remote is fully functioned and well laid out. It is a little large,
but feels good to use. Atleast it is too large to lose in the couch.

Image quality is fine to me, the sonics are all done by my reciever. A
quick listen showed nothing too different between the PCM decode quality
of the DVD player and the Sony DA50ES - possibly, the toshiba was better,
but this was all very unscientific.

I have tested a video cd in it - it played, image quality sucked, no
surprises.

About the only thing that irriates me about the player is that it does
not auto play cd's when I load them. Otherwise, a fine player, good
interface.

In my judgment the advantage of the MG 1.6 (and other Magneplars), stems from the following: = It is a full-range dipole, and = It has uses low-mass, planar drivers for the whole audio spectrum. These attributes account for its extraordinary clarity, coherence, “air”...
