Summary: I'm writing this review to give some insight on the problem the previous reviewer mentioned. I've had the same reset problem and have determined it to be caused by the lid. It does not close tightly enough and when bumped, the unit thinks the lid is opened and resets. If I hold the lid closed, I can shake the player and it doesn't skip or reset.
I have emailed Toshiba on this and am waiting for a reponse.
Strengths: Nice picture, durable, two headphone outputs.
Weaknesses: Lid does not close tightly enough and causes unit to reset with the slightest bump. If you hold the lid closed, you can shake the thing around and it doesn't skip.
No car adaptor available.

Summary: I have now had this unit for 6 months and have put it through a tough trial of travel. The unit has held up very well in suitcases, backpacks, planes, cruise ships and a 4-year-old daughter. It has been dropped and banged around and god only knows what the baggage handlers do with our luggage.
The picture quality is great and the sound is what it is for those small speakers, with headphones you would think you were in a Boses surround sound theater. The only drew back is if you really want to use it for the car. This unit gets an F. Any small bump in the car and this is in a Volvo S80 the unit re-sets, constantly. It has no real stabilization for the unit to handle any kind of shock while playing. We actually put two down pillows between the front seats and sat the unit on top of these and it still re-sets itself on small bumps, very frustrating. In a stable environment it works great. But if you are contemplating using this in a car do not buy the SD-P1200.
Strengths: Picture is good, Audio in good Durable outer case, great for small kids
Weaknesses: Terrible for the car or any kind of trip that will encounter bumps

Summary: I have taken this unit on two trips this summer and it has performed well. Picture quality is not as good as I would like, but other features that I was looking for somewhat make up for it, such as video input.
I needed a unit that could play video discs as well as DVD and so far this unit delivers.
Strengths: Video input
Stylish construction
Screen size
Good battery life
Ability to play all current forms of video
Weaknesses: Picture quality
Hard to open due to rubberized construction

Summary: Not too many reviews out there on this player. I received mine yesterday and have probably already put 10 hours on it. I think the doa one could have had the av in/out switch set to out. When it is set to out, you don't see a picture on the lcd. at any rate, I have had no problems with it and am very happy with my purchase. vcd works well, jpgs play, and the video quality is good. don't have any complaints yet.
Strengths: love the rubberized case. very unique.
plays mp3s, jpgs, vcds, and has a video in/out. you could hook up your xbox if you felt like it. :)
Weaknesses: not sure how many units have this but I would like a battery indicator and memory for where you left off in a movie if you power it off and then back on.

Summary: very bad picture quality for the price, mitek portable 5.8 dvd cost $200.00 and has a better quality picture. The rest of the features are great and extremely handy but you will see the quality of the picture as you will watch your all color tv, also you can see diagonal lines on the screen. Very bad purchase for the price, today will go back to the best buy stock.
Strengths: great color and features, remote control, jpeg for pictures, very sturdy for kids, waterproof, great sound, you don't need headfones to listen to it.
Weaknesses: poor screen quality that cannot be adjusted, you can see diagonal or vertical lines.
