Summary:
I like the product, it does what I bought it for and the manual is nice and clear. It’s replacing my VCR and I don’t need to have HDTV quality out of a program that’s just coming in by cable or 5.1 sound. Stereo is just fine. This is not replacing my DVD player, it’s just for recording and playing back shows. My DVD is better quality for watching movies.

Strengths:
Love the remote and I really like the commercial skip. Handy when it’s late and you just want to watch your show.
Instructions where nice and clear

Weaknesses:
Don’t really like the fact that I have to use ONLY DVD-R/W and not the “+”, if I didn’t have lots of “+” on hand I would not mine.
The thing that I found disappointing that it will not pass the signal through the coaxial cable, so for now, I was short of S-video cable and I don’t have any more component inputs on my TV, I’m using regular RCA going to my VCR and then to my TV.
Coaxial signals do pass through the coaxial of course, but will not be the one that can be display through the TV

Similar Products Used:
The only similar product would be my external TV box connected to my computer and then being able to record to hard drive or straight to DVD. That one is not working at 100% and I’m getting tired of playing with it to make it work, this is more straightforward and will do what I want. I just want to record a few shows and watch them later.
