got it cheap with a rebate, only to find out that the reason i got it so cheap was because it doesnt work. no power after the 8th use. reseting the unit doesnt work. and the tech support doesnt even care that they sell people this crap, they dont want to help you but they do want to rip you off.

This unit died completely after 8 months. Note: warranty period is 3 months.

This model has a very loud hum and gives off a noticeable vibration during normal play. This is annoying during quiet passages in movies.

From now on, I will buy from a manufacturer who offers a 1-year warranty.

There seems to be a problem with the motor that spins the cd: RF-3200CH-12400 is the part #. To my surprise there are no replacement motors available, yeh. If you are having problems that is probably it. Sorry your SOL.

Bottom Line:
I have read most of the other reviews, and found, to my surprise, that a lot of other people have had a problem with this model. I have had this DVD player since product introduction in 2000. I have only had one problem with it. Someone left the DVD tray in the open posistion overnight, and it would not shut off. Simply unplugging the the unit for 30 seconds solved this problem. I have never had a need to call RCA or contact them via the web.

One thing to note though, is this unit does get hot. By simply keeping it in a ventilated area, and stacking no other electronic equipment on top of it, you should encounter no problems at all. This I find to be the case with a lot of modern electronic devices. Heat is the enemy! Keep your equipment in ventilated area's and you should not ever have a problem with them.
