Price Paid:  $150.00 from custom a/v store in

Summary:
One of the better DVD players, out there.Well built , less bulky than DV-09, DV-37,
Great for DVD's, not so great for CD's . Can't explain it , there's something missing regarding CD audio. No Matter, DVD player should only be used as a DVD player.

Strengths:
Great progressive scan image, plays mp3, video CD. Has 2-s-vdeo, 2 composites,
and 1 component.

Weaknesses:
The remote feels cheap, looks alot like my LD remote from the mid-90's. Audio lacks a bit.

Similar Products Used:
Marantz DV-18, yamaha dvd-s2500

Price Paid:  $0.00 from on loan from team

Summary:
I was auditioning this unit for the universal capability. What I found was no matter what I was listening to,it always sounded like I was listening to a movie soundtrack.I've lived with the Sony es-999 for almost 2 years now & hafta say that the 47 comes nowhere near the sound quality. The 47 sounds tolaidback for my listening.I've been a musician for most of my life & know what instruments are supposed to sound like. There is no leading edge with the 47,just candy coating. This unit is another dvd-a player that tries to be an SACD player.Maybe someday Sony will get their heads out of the dark crevis,s & realize they could make a mint on a universal player. With all these dual discs coming out in the quick future there's greenback in them thar hills. The cd playback was the same(candy coated).

Strengths:
plays stuff

Weaknesses:
doesn't play some stuff too well

Similar Products Used:
tried most of the pioneer universals, yamaha

Price Paid:  $650.00 from Second hand

Summary:
A decent allround player.
I bought this player because of it's soft sound characteristic. My Kappa 400 have a tendency to become fairly bright.
It's an ok cd-player but it didn't beat my Arcam cd72t.

Strengths:
Plays every format?
iLink
12bit/108Mhz Video dac
PS PAL, PS NTSC

Weaknesses:
Build, very light, looks cheap, the disc tray is purly crap.
