Panasonic DVD-F87 Multi-disc DVD Player DVD Players

Panasonic DVD-F87 Multi-disc DVD Player DVD Players

DESCRIPTION

The new Panasonic DVD decks feature Advanced Progressive Scan, resulting in an extended frequency response, reduction of background noise and enhancement of depth. The higher-density video signal brings a film-like quality to DVD images, extraordinarily close to the way they originally appeared in the cinema, with rich detail, incredible depth of field, and precise color reproduction. The high resolution picture is also free of motion artifacts. With the rising popularity of high definition televisions and their ability to accept and reproduce a progressively scanned DVD picture, Panasonic's progressive scan players are positioned to take full advantage of this growing format.

Strength:

THIS IS AN ATTRACTIVE UNIT AND IS A MULTI DISC FORMATE PLAYER.THE PICTURE AND SOUND QUALITY WAS AN IMPROVEMENT OVER MY PIONEER DV-535(2001DVD PLAYER OF THE YEAR) IN INTERLACE MODE, AND COST $100 LESS.THERE ARE A NUMBER OF TWEAK OPTIONS WHICH CAN BE HELPFUL FOR AUDIO AND VIDEO, BUT LUCKLY FOR THOSE WHO AREN'T TWEAKERS THIS PRODUCT WORKS GOOD STRAIGHT OUT OF THE BOX.IT ALSO HAS VOICE SINK FOR PLASMA,LCD USERS.MY UNIT WAS PLUGGED TO A 12YRS+CRT 4.3 SONY AND THE PICTURE HAS NEVER BEEN BETTER.BUT THIS PLAYER IS NOW PLUGGED TO A 1YRS+CRT WIDESCREEN TCL WITH SIMILAR RESULTS.THE SONY HAS S/V, THE TCL, INTERLACE COMPONENT;AS THERE HIGHEST VIDIO INPUTS.THE SURPRISE WAS THE SONY NEEDED NO TWEAKING TO PRODUCE ITS PICTURE WHILE MORE THAN A FEW GOOD HOURS OVER WEEKS WAS SPENT ON THE TCL.(THIS UNIT IS IN MY SHED/POOL ROOM AND IS USED MOSTLY FOR MUSIC DVDs .NOT USED FOR CDs.)

Weakness:

THIS UNIT WHILE LOOKING GOOD HAS A CHEAP TACKY FEEL ABOUT IT AS SOON AS YOU TOUCH ANY OF THE BUTTONS.THE REMOTE CONTROL ONLY ADDS TO THIS.THIS UNIT WILL NOT AUTOMATICALLY PLAY ONE DVD AFTER THE OTHER WHICH IS VERY DISAPPOINTING. BUT IT WILL PLAY CDs IN THIS MODE.THERE ARE CHEAP SINGLE PLAY DVD PLAYERS WHICH HAVE AN OPTION FOR INSTANT AUTO PLAY MODE, SO THERE IS NO EXCUSE FOR THIS.BUT TO BE FAIR TO PANASONIC THIS PROBLEM CAN BE FOUND ON ALL OTHER CAROUSEL STYLE PLAYERS SOLD IN AUSTRALIA,SOME COSTING 2 OR 3+TIMES MORE. WARNING THIS PLAYER DOES NOT HAVE PROGESS SCAN IN PAL MODE, (ONLY NTSC) SO BUYER BEWARE.WHEN THIS PLAYER IS TURNED ON IT WILL SCAN AND PLAY AUTOMATICALLY AND IT REFUSES ALL COMMANDS FROM THE UNIT BUTTONS OR REMOTE BUTTONS IF YOU TRY TO STOP IT FROM DOING THIS.THE WORST THING IS WHEN PLAYING DVDs AT THE END OF A DVD YOU HAVE TO PUSH AT LEAST 3 BUTTONS ON THE REMOTE TO MAKE IT PLAY THE NEXT DISC OR WALK UP TO THE MACHINE AND PRESS THE NEXT NUMBER. IT SEEMS LIKE THIS PLAYER TRIES TOO HARD TO PLAY EVERYTHING, IF I WERE PANASONIC OR ANY OTHER MAJOR MANUFACTURER I WOULD AT LEAST MAKE IT AUTO PLAY IN DVD MODE AND MAYBE MAKE IT A DVD PLAYER ONLY AND PUT THE MONEY SAVED IN THE REMOTE AND MAYBE ADD HDMI OR DVI. YOU DON'T BUY A DVD PLAYER TO PLAY CDs ANYWAY , OR VISE VERSA.

THIS PRODUCT IS A VERY GOOD IDEA, BUT NEEDS ALOT OF REFINEMENT.IN AUSTRALIA THIS IS NOT A COMMON PRODUCT AND A 5 DISC DVD PLAYER IS AS GOOD AS IT GETS(.WOULD LOVE TO BUY A 100+ PLAYER.)READ THIS REVIEW BEFORE YOU BUY,BOTH STRENGTHS AND WEAKNESSES.
