Strength:

High Quality. Amazing Audio. Easy Setup.

Weakness:

Shallow tray. Video Playback, while great, could improve slightly.

This is worth every penny. I'm an enthusiast on a budget (aren't we all). My setup consists of either high-end entry level stuff or mid-class hand-me-downs. I have a Pioneer Elite 49txi receiver, Bose 901's, Bose VCS-10 center channel, as the primary part of my system. The 901's have been lackluster in my mind up to this point. Clear but not very exciting. I recently got to the point where I "owed it to myself" to get a new "toy". It came down to new speakers or a new component. I guessed right by going with the component. The Marantz makes my 901s sing like I've never heard them before.
I have recently begun getting into SACDs and this was the best purchase I've made in a long time. Reproduction is full yet clear. Setup was a cinch. I am blown over by the difference this unit has made.

Strength:

Alot for the money...
Sound quality...
CD Upsampling...
Menu setup is intuitive...
Dvd video (supports 1080p)...
Audio Ex...

Weakness:

Scan forward/back is on same buttons as Track next/previous... rather clumsy...
Tray is not recessed very much, so need to place discs carefully...

I really like this Universal Dvd player...
I was looking for a good audio player that does all formats (sacd, dvd-audio etc) and handles basic dvd video...

I prefer the audio on the marantz over both the denon1930 & 2930 which i auditioned at home.. the denons upper treble seemed rather hard and fatiguing...
You can cut the treble frequency at 50khz for the 2930, but this was not as musical to me as the marantz... the 2930 also seemed to have very little bass (for 2 speaker stereo)...

The Marantz Dv6001 sounds smooth with good detail and excellent bass...
What sweetens the deal is the cd-upsampling - up to x2 (96khz) or x4 (176khz)... noticeable improvement in smoothness, drive and width of soundstage for regular cds...
If the next dv7600 has cd-upsampling, i would also probably upgrade to that...

Good Sacd discs sound amazing... (like the santana abraxas sacd)..
Audio Ex is nice, turns off video & display for better sound...

Video is good... but definitely below the denon 2930 video quality-which is exceptional...

Compare Josh Rouse's 1972 tracks 1&2 with x4 upsampling on & off... very noticable increase in smoothness, drive and with more expansive soundstage...
Probably would have gone with the dv7600 but it didn't have cd-upsampling (if they offer it in the next version, i will upgrade)...

Sacd discs sound excellent...
Audio Ex is nice, turns off video & display for better sound...

Video is competent (equivalent to the denon1930)... still a big step below the denon 2930 video...
