Beyer Dynamic DT-231 Over-Ear Headphones

4/5 (3 Reviews) MSRP : $99.00

Product Description

you only knew how bad most sealed headphones are, you'd really be amazed at how Beyerdynamic consistently delivers good ones. You'd also be blown away that they managed to make a cheap pair of sealed headphones that sound as good as the DT 231. Though slightly lacking in the mids, these cans provide clear, non-flabby, non-bloated bass, as well as extended highs that lack the harshness usually found in cheap headphones. Style-wise, they're pretty ordinary: plastic throughout, with soft, fuzzy ear pads, and a cross between circumaural and supra-aural ear pads (a good compromise between comfort and seal). All-in-all, the standout in budget closed headphones.

Bottom Line:
Good Buy for those that are looking for a well tonal balance. Great bass and superb clearity. Comparing with my previous KOSS KTX Pro, that is nothin near this one. I plug it to my computer powered by Sound Blaster Live! DE and it sound great. Only sometimes it sounded too bright.
altough it is below RM 200, but for this price you dont get this kind of sound from other brands that i have known.

Bottom Line:
These phones are so melifluous that they sound like having a small pair of speakers attached to the sides of the head, that is to say, they sound so un-headphone like! Forget the idea of listener fatigue. The last thing they are is shrill, overanalytical. I use them on CD, TV, anything in fact. They may not be the last word in sound detail, but my word they are not tiring and the headband is most compfortable. Also the ears do not get overly hot.

Bottom Line:
I purchased these after my open-air Grado SR60's proved completely ineffective when faced with any sort of outside noise (traffic, subway, etc.). For the price, these sealed cans provide a beautiful, intoxicating sound. Unortunately the sound was not as present as I would have liked. If you want a set of cans for your CD player - these are the best under $100. Small, sealed (trust me, if you're anywhere in the city or by a highway, you'll want sealed), light and great-sounding, the DT-231's should be in every audiophile's repetoire. But if you're looking for a home-use set of headphones, there are better choices for the price.
