Strength:

I put it on after a long time. I was replaying Ha Ash-Perdon Perdon right after I listened to the same song in Senheiser HD One wireless headphones. And what difference did this older headphones produced. Clarity and rich notes I forgot existed while using much newer Senheiser one. They arent very firm and your head wont get tired listening to music in these for a long time. Overall, it is a very high quality headphones that will beat many 100 priced headphones and will bring you many hours of joy listening to vocal and instrumental music.

Weakness:

They dont sit firmly on your head and can be too big for a smaller head. there is barily any base in these. Definitely avoid if you love rap.

Strength:

Natural, non-strident timbre and balance.
Extremely comfortable.
Non-fatiguing: The tone is warm and authoritative, not "in your face" raucous
Materials and workmanship are very good quality,

Weakness:

Not a "cool" design like others, but who cares?
Bottom end could use a little more "beef".
Would have liked to have included a case or container for long-term storage or when not in use.

The Audio Technica ATH-AD700 headphones are a large set of cans designed with performance and comfort squarely in mind. Truth be told, the headphones will not make you look any more cool; but if you are seriously interested in music and hearing it presented in all its flaws and glory, they are worth every cent of their value.

The AT's use a purported "3D wing support" in the design to ensure fit and comfort. Coupled with a "smooth velvety fabric" for their ear covers, the 'phones are superbly gentle on the ears. Quite unlike many of the headphones I have listened to and owned over the years, the AT's are unobtrusive, dissappearing altogether upon the first note to hit the wire.

The sound is neutral and airy and is by no means fatiguing. These are not rock and roll ear-cans, but laid back ear speakers, that speak with a subtle authority that neither brags nor whimpers through even the most difficult musical information. Voices are fluid and natural sounding, and instruments are presented with clean coherence. The imaging is large, but not overwhelming, giving listeners a chance to hear their music as though in plain air.

The AD700's are of an "Air Dynamic" design, which lends itself to moderate leakage. For those who wish to listen to their music unobtrusively, the AT's are not very accomodating. On the other hand, for the enthusiast who wishes to enjoy their music and are in pursuit of nuanced and refined pleasure, these headphones are of exceptional calibre.
