Review 3 of 7

Price Paid:  $150.00

Summary:

Strengths:
Bass !!! , Quality , Balance.

Weaknesses:
None

Review 4 of 7

Price Paid:  $50.00 from uBid

Summary:
The most significant characteristics that stand out to me are: 1. bass, dark sound 2. adequate mids/highs 3. build quality 4. isolation/comfort 5. price 1. The bass is great. I seriously recommend using an amp. I am using a Creek OBH-11, and it gives the headphones that extra kick of bass, on top of the good bass. But in general, the overall sound is skewed to the mid-lows, which is fine if you like that. I personally like using these headphones for synth, dance music. 2. Like I said before, you won''t be expecting anything great in the mids/highs, since the sound is overly skewed to the somewhere between the lows and mids, maybe around 300-600Hz range. 3. This is just a general comment, because it seems that Sennheiser headphones are not what they used to be, ever since they moved manufacturing from Germany to Ireland. I prefer the older German versions, since they *seem* of higher build quality. I get the feeling nowadays that Sennheiser is mass producing these so called "audiophile quality" headphones and selling them for $$$. 4. Isolation is average for such a closed headphone. The HD25 and 25SP definitely outperform, but I would still give these headphones a thumbs up, since I''ve used circumaurual Sony''s which I think are quite bad. Also, comdfort is good, as usual with circumaural models. But otherwise, nothing particularly special, as Sennheiser basically uses the same frame for all their middle range models. 5. I was fortunate enough to pick these up on uBid for about 50 shipped, so I think these headphones are a fantastic value, IF you can get it at this price. At 170-180, at your favorite onlike headphone retailer, I think this is too overpriced. Your max price should lie within 80-120. Otherwise, look at the HD25SP or others instead. If you are in that 150+ range, go for the HD250 II instead, because you can''t beat the comforts. Side note: I like to listen to St. Etienne and that type of music specifically with these headphones.

Strengths:
Fantastic bass Isolation Super bargain, if you can get it....

Weaknesses:
Not so great mids/highs Dark sound

Similar Products Used:
HD535, HD25SP

Review 5 of 7

Price Paid:  $265.00 from Playtech Sta Ifigeni

Summary:
Here in Brazil it''s very dificult to obtain sennheiser phones (even Koss or AKG) so when I found one it was very expensive for me, but I really wanted one, so I did purchase it. The sound is Flat and VERY clear, no gain in bass, mid or highs, you can configure your receiver on the trebble or bass, but you will be killing the intentions of the original sound that the musician desired to you to listen. The Sennheiser HD 265 Linear, is a semi-professional headphone that I could classify as professional, the construction of the componnents are state-of-the-art to deliver you clear audible sound wothout distortion even with the volume set to high, don''t use this with discmans, because they can''t hande the power needed for this resistence (150ohms) this is clearly an equipment for amplifiers, not portable devices, some DSP''s like Sony''s MegaBass, will cause distortion because you need to put it on very maximum volume to listen properly. The Phone needs power to "activate" for you to hear all the sounds in a CD or DVDA, but in low volume conditions the sound is still very good. You will notice that some of your best CD''s (the ones you believed was the best recordings) are not that best, this phone is so accurate that you will hear the cut''s in the sound edition... no joke... I am not a audiophile, but my family is entirely of musicians, and sound is our life, there can be better phones to sell in some place from some industry, but you can''t buy all of them to see if it is good or no, this one rocks, if you want to hear from new flamenco to Dream Theater, go for it.

Strengths:
Flat Sound, it delivers you a true and strong natural sound. Excangeable parts, confortable and blocks near 3/4 of enviroment noise.

Weaknesses:
Made from Plastic but still heavy, I don''t think that as a weakness but a caracteristic.

Similar Products Used:
Koss A130, Sony MDR-E888, Kenwood KH-2020.
