Summary:
I love Sennheiser...they have always made the best combination of comfort, sound quality and price. DO NOT pay list...you can find these and just about any other sennheiser on the net for well below list. Well you will not find a less expensive, more comfortable sealed cans that sound this good. They are sealed so you get some isolation from people talking around you and you can crank it up a bit and not worry about disturbing your neighbor. The pleather cushion is a bit stiff at first and the band may feel tight. Well you can bend the headband out a bit by heating it and leaving it clamped around a few books for a day or so (great to do while they burn in). After you have worn them a couple of weeks the pleather will soften. Once you feel how nice full cups that do not apply pressure to your ears you will never go back to on the ear phones. The frequency response is not as flat as their smaller cheaper brother the eh2220, but are bigger, wider range and more comfortable. AND since they are 64 Ohms...you can power them nicely with most portable and small equipment...try doing that with a 300 headphone.

Summary:
I am a home recordist and semi-pro musician. I have previously used the renowned AKG K240 phones as well as years worth of other Sennheisers. This sealed set of cans is just what you need for a home recording setup. The isolation and lack of bleed is phenomenal. While it is true that some exceedingly expensive phones can best these in A/B comparisons, these phones are a GREAT BUY! Vs. the AKG K240: They put out much more sound than the AKGs which are very common in studios. The detail is every bit as faithful with improved extreme lows (old vinyl records now show the slight rumble of drive vibration). They are better isolated and roughly the same in comfort. The cord will not be destroyed if pulled out forcibly (its mounted via a submini jack at the bottom of the left can). With pricing now in the $70s or $80s in the US, these are an incredible deal. . .(did I already say that?) Get 'em.

Strengths:
sound quality excellent, including phenomenal frequency response, good definition, reasonably good imaging and overall response. Put out lots of sound in an audio system or home studio environment. Very good isolation. Light weight. Clever construction. Good idea to have pull out head phone cord.

Weaknesses:
Somewhat tight fit (quite tolerable). Just barely fit my large head (I usually size out XL in hats). If you have a truly huge head, look elsewhere. But at least try 'em on.

I have been searching for a pair of economic quality headphones to listen to music through my G4 computer and portable for awhile. Most headphones less than $100 either blast you with midrange and weak details on the high end. They also give a muddy and boomy bass. I say less than $100 because that is what I paid and what you can get them for most discounted arenas. They do retail for $195. Welcome Sennheiser H-2270s!! Joy to the ears! These top of the line in the Sennheiser Evolution series are a new line of closed back phones from the kings of "headphonics". First off, the bass is a little more taylored to the pop and jazz crowd providing a crisp and clean low end without giving your ears a boomy standing wave in the closed cans like most under $100 give. Some would say that this a weakness in the bass...this is not the case. Mid and high details are rich and very pleasing and not harsh. Spatially, they are not up to the strengths of the higher end HD series from Sennheiser due to the closed vs open can design. Neither to the over $100 Grado line. But, they beat any other headphone out there sold in any of the retail chain stores. Impedance is rated at 64ohm. So, a weak signal from portable device may not drive these phones to the volume you desire. Most phones in this price range have an impedence in the 32-40ohm range. I haven't had a problem at all with my G4 Mac or Rio Volt to drive these phones. I do hear the noticable improvement in overall repsonse with played through my Pioneer Elite. But, I have the Sennheiser 600's for that. Looking for high quality for your gaming, computer mp3's or portable? You can not go wrong here. Your music will sound better than you would dare to believe in headphones at this price. Beware...details are such that you will hear every little weakness in you mp3's or recorded music. That ol saying "junk in, junk out" is so true with the 2270s.

Summary:
Wow!!! what a difference this made. The details of my favorite CDs just seemed like it came out of nowhere. I wasn't hearing these details with my regular speakers...and they are the Infinity IL series speakers. I know you can get it for cheaper now...for around $80...and what a deal. I had to pay $120 plus shipping. Pick one of these babies up if you can. Of course, you can always buy better, but I don't think spending $50-$100 more can justify the small amount of improvement.

Strengths:
Details, details, details!!! Somtimes I think Shakira is singing to my ears.

Weaknesses:
The bass is weak, but hey...most sub $200 headpones can't provide that much bass anyways and I'm not using a headpone amplifier.
