Strength:

Excellent isolation. Not bright like the original Sony varient. High quality cord.

Weakness:

Smeared in the bass and mids. Noticeable resonance. Difficulty in hearing multiple layers of channels/tracks compared to competing headphones. Heavy. Uncomfortable. Fragile gel ear cushions prone to rupture. Not eyeglasses friendly.

These aren't too bad, but are clearly too expensive for what you're getting. $300? That's three times the price of the Sony. They also sound vastly inferior to the Etymotic Research ER4S, which is about the same price and isolated similarly. The Extreme Isolations, while lackling the frequency response acuracy of these others, tend to have a more layered sound with multiple mixes sources...not to mention they are more durable, easier to get on and off, and are eyeglasses friendly. If you are monitoring a single source, such as a boom mike, are in a high noise environment, don't where eyeglasses, and want a sound somewhat close to the Sony 7506, then this is a good option. I can't recommend it for others, especially considering the $200 mark-up for the Sony driver being added to a cheap aviation headset.

Strength:

Sound
Isolation...about the same as the ER4S, possibly a little more in certain frequencies.

Weakness:

Not as comfy as the Extreme Isolation Headphone. The drivers still touch the tip of your ears. Also surprisingly enough doesn't respond to extreme levels as well as that headphone...crazy but true.
The HN-7506 certainly is not a warm sounding headphone, but it's no longer bright or as fatiguing as the Sony.

Really damned expensive.

Spendy, but does what it advertises. The designer managed to get rid of the 7506/V6's horrendous high frequency delayed energy stuff that's always bugged my ears, but retained most of the rest of the sound.

Similar Products Used:

I own the Etymotic Research ER4S, 2 pairs of Extreme Isolation Headphones, and now these. I've also owned many other headphones, including Ixos MOS1000, Pioneer 1000, and about a dozen different Koss headphones. I've used Sony V600's, V6/7506, Sennheiser HD580, Koss 950 Electrostatics, and the Denon 950's. I also have extensive DJ equipment and two headphone amps.
