Review NaN of , from Huntington Beach

Price Paid:  $60.00 from Aafess

Summary:
sounds good for closed circumerals.

Strengths:
sounds okay for amateur listeners, cheap,

Weaknesses:
the cord may be to long for portables, and may tangle up in your pocket. To solve this do the following:
you can make the cord shorter, by opening the vmss unit down the cord. CArefull unscrew the two screwws, unsolder the bottom two speaker lines, cut the cord to desired length, then tie a knot, secure back into the vmss unit, carefully screw the screw back.
poor built quality, so take it easy on these earphones

Review NaN of , from Maryland

Price Paid:  $45.00 from Buy.com

Summary:
What can I say? This is by far the best damn pair of closed headphones I have EVER bought. The sound is absolutely superb for any application you wish to use it with. I personally used it exclusively for gaming and music but found that they are excellent for DJ usage and movies. Everything about the VMSS is true. Real bass that's not fake and tacky. The clarity is magnificent, allowing for the listener to truly appreciate the treble and hear things they could never hear before.
My major gripe with these headphones is the durability. I just went through my second pair after the first pair bit the dust through the right ear unit completely losing sound (not bass fx) unless I twisted the cord a certain way. Now just less than a month after I got a replacement, those two have suffered the same fate only to a worse degree. I suppose that I may have been a bit rough with the set but still, this tells me that the wiring is very poor and that the workmanship could use some major improvement. I will get another pair of these because they are worth it (and also because they are covered against defects up to 90 days after purchase) but this time I will try to be more careful when handling it and I urge you to do the same if you wisely choose to purchase this model.

Strengths:
Excellent sound (bass and treble)
Very comfortable
Great price

Weaknesses:
Ill-thought-out placement of VMSS unit
Excessively long cord
Poor durability

Review NaN of

Price Paid:  $43.00 from www.pac-2000.com

Summary:
Headphones are simply awesome. The 50mm drivers produce clear deep bass for any music. The VMSS (Virtual Motion Sound System) is even better. They sound great with music, movies, or video games. All sound is rich and clear.

As for the fit, they should fit any head and are supremely comfortable for long periods of time.

The only thing I dont like is the VMSS remote 18 inches down the cord. It does clip on to your belt which is good, other wise I wish it wasn't there.

These headphones are well worth the buy!!

Strengths:
Great sound output.
Intense bass and VMSS bass.
Very compfortable.

Weaknesses:
VMSS remote control gets in the way.

Similar Products Used:
Koss
Panasonic VMSS headphones (not the same headphones, smaller drivers)

Review NaN of , from foxburg

Price Paid:  $16.00 from online auction; new

Summary:
Got the headphones from an online auction.
They are well worth the current retail price, and definitely worth more than I paid for them. The oversized (50mm) driver units produce excellent bass even without the VMSS feature. When I hooked them up right out of the package, I had to turn DOWN the bass level on the receiver...never had to do that with any other new set of phones. Because of the high output the treble can get very intense as well, but once you get the proper sound profile they become very nice headphones.

The VMSS feature is a bit of a gimmick...pretty good for games or movies
but downright annnoying for reasonable audio listening. The sliding battery-powered booster switch is 18 inches from the headphones...a bit clumsy but it has a clip to attach to your clothing. If you can stand an hour or two of head-shaking at the MAX level, then you should probably
apply for a job at NASA.

The headphones look awkward and gangly right out of the box, but they fit my head quite well and were comfortable over long periods of listening. Overall, a very nice deal for me. If you can find the equivalent Panasonic product without the VMSS, get them and save even more bucks.

Strengths:
Excellent bass. Very comfortable for closed cans.

Weaknesses:
Mid range could be better but not bad;
VMSS irritating at MAX level.

Similar Products Used:
more Koss than I can remember; Sony (ugh);
Jensen (don't use them even if you get them for free).

Review NaN of

Price Paid:  $16.00 from online auction; new

Summary:
I got the headphones really cheap in an online auction. They work surprisingly well and are worth the reatil price, and certainly more than I paid for them. The bass output is fine without the VMSS. When using them right out of the package, I had to turn DOWN the bass level on my receiver. I had to turn down the treble as well, because high frequency tones can buzz at mid-to-high output levels.
The VMSS feature is more of a gimmick. It does work, but it interferes with continuous music listening and is probably more suited to game play. If you can stand an hour of VMSS head shaking, you should apply for a job at NASA. The battery-driven switching section is a nuisance...try to find the equivalent Panasonic headphones without VMSS and save a few bucks.

Strengths:
Superb bass performance for the money. Comfortable fit for closed headphones.

Weaknesses:
Could do better on vocals/mid tones; VMSS
is downright annoying at the MAX setting.

Similar Products Used:
More Koss than I can remember; Sony (ugh);
Jensen (don't use these even if you get them for free).
