Bottom Line:
My Speakers are over 10 yrs old and still sound great. I had stored the speakers and they got a little water damage and the speakers are just fine, The boxes got wet while storing them but all sounds good like new. A+ 5 star speakers.

Bottom Line:
I picked up a set of these speakers for 400 dollars the other day. The sound is very typical of Polk's, forward and in your face. I listened to Brother's in Arms the other day and it was jamming. The woofers handled the bass with some smoothness, but maintained an overall "Boxy" sound, which was most evident in the mid bass. The vocals tended to linger in the background of the soundstage, while the brightness of the tweeter caused the overall transition of sound at the crossover points to be a bit unbalanced, with the lower register and higher register dominating the transition. Ok, the LS90's did not impress me with musical stylings of Dire Straights, but for the price, maybe I could try some other tunes. I listened to some jazz and the LS90's preformed quite a bit better. I think they are more suited for in your face types of music. So with that, I say a moderate speaker for a fair price.

Bottom Line:
A truly great set of speakers. Add another $1000 to the price to find anything that compares. Very controlled bass - advantage of smaller drivers. Almost no ring from the trilaminate dome tweeters. I see some of the other reviews of these speakers complain of booming bass - look carefully at your speaker positioning - keep them well away from the corners of your listening room.

I've had these connected to various equipment - initially Rotel, but now Musical Fidelity X-A1 and X-Ray. Also occasionally to an Assemblage Valve/Tube amp.

Bottom Line:
I cant say enough about these speakers! With a better cross-over circuit and a tweeter that would handle more power, they might just be the best sounding speakers in the world...period! Too bad Polk disconinued this product line. Their new speakers dont hold a candle to the LS90's. Ive heard demos from speakers costing 5 times as much and wasnt impressed! So here's the real problem... Now that the LS-90's are getting older, what could you possibly buy to replace them??
