It can lack mid range bass during music play back.

Before considering the Jamo Omega A310 speaker pack (or any other speakers), I would like to point out, that it really depends on four factors: (1) the size of the room. (2) The positioning of the speakers, relative to the listener. (3) the quality of the speaker cable. (4) the quality of the amplifier being used to drive the speakers. In my case the room was approximately 20 square metres. With about 3 metres from the front and centre speaker. And about 2 metres from the rear speakers. I tested this speaker package with an Onkyo TX-SR600(E). This is a high current amplifier, with discrete channel amplification. D.I.N continious power output at 115W at 6-ohm. I found running these speakers at their suggested 6-Ohm Rating to be necessary for attaining clear tweeter and woofer sound. I found setting amplifier speaker settings to small and Bass Cut-off extremely benefical. I found running the satellites speakers with two SW1008 sub-woofers, marginally better than one for movie effects in DD 5.1 and DTS modes. Again, position was important. I felt the gap between the satellites and sub-woofer to be most noticable while listening to music in either 2.1 channel stereo, DTS NEO 6 and Dolby Pro Logic II mode. I recommend that you try before you buy. Bring a mixture of your favourite music to the retailer and listen for yourself. Get them to connect several amplifiers to the speakers. Larger retailers should be able to help. Invest in a high current, discrete channel amplifier, if you can afford one.

Good price Very small, but good performers

Setting up the sub was very frustrating. The tweeters didn't produce the clarity you need for dialogs when watching movies. Big gap between sub and sats.

Reasonably good for stereo setup, when watching a movie they seem to be 'mumbling' at times. The gap between the sub and the sats. is to big in my opinion. Once the subwoofer is adjusted it sounds good, but it needs very precise adjustments.I think the sub works well for watching movies, but laks refinement needed for music.

Very suitable for movies. Deep Bass, the frequency cut off can come in handy. Fills up my room with clear, crisp sound.

Less sound staging for vocals. Lack mid-bass.

The vocals are clear, high range levels are delivered very well, as well as the bass. However, mid bass did not come out that good, which is not too obvious if you use it for watching movies. Another thing that Jamo is lacking of: sound staging, if compared to the Bose Acoustimass. especially for the vocals if you use it for music. But I still think that this problem could have occured from disorganized stuff in my room. =) Don''''t forget, you can somewhat handle this using a DSP receiver (I use Yamaha RXV-520) which could shift the sound to the center speaker. The combined DSP receiver could also further fill my room with all the 5 speakers on. Even if I could have bought the 5.1 speaker system for $800, I still think that the Jamo Apollo is a good bargain. Go ahead and experience one.

This review is for the Apollo 3 system

I started thinking about buying new speakers when I noticed that the foam around the cones in the Infinity speakers I owned was beginning to deteriorate. I decided on getting a 5.1 speaker system because of the great sound I was getting out of a cheap Labtec satellite and subwoofer system I bought for my computer.

I admit, at first, I was all caught up in the hoopla known as Bose. I was getting ready to buy the Accoutimass 6 system on Ebay when someone told me about the AudioREVIEW.com. I read the reviews and the recommendations to stay away from Bose. Several of the reviews recommended two other systems: Jamo Apollo and/or Energy Take 5. I started checking out the prices and reading the reviews.

Both systems sounded great from the reviews, but I liked the style and size of the Omega 3 satellites and the 10’ cone in the 410e subwoofer. I decided on the Apollo 3 system because of the extra power handling of the satellites and because the wall mounts were included.

I found someone selling a new Apollo 3 system on Ebay for just over $600 dollars including shipping, and went ahead and bought them.

After setting up the system, I ran out and rented Saving Private Ryan and The Matrix. My girlfriend and I both agreed how much the speakers added to the movies. She laughed often because of the thump in her gut from the subwoofer when something was getting blown up.

I started running the speakers from an old Sony STR-D2020 receiver, but since the right front channel kept going in and out, I broke down and started researching AV Dolby receivers. I decided on the Denon AVR-1600 because of the price, features, recommendations from this site, and especially and most important, 5.1 stereo. I’ve long wanted the ability to use my rear channel speakers when listening to a stereo program without using some cheesy DSP mode.

I’m impressed at how great the Apollo system sounds. At first, my only two complaints were that voices and music sounded a little flat at lower volumes, and the wall mounts did the job but were kinda cheesy. The new Denon receiver and a little tweaking make the speakers sound a whole lot better, and since the wall mounts aren’t visible, I really don’t mind them anymore.

I highly recommend the Jamo Apollo 3 system, and would buy them again. You get a lot of bang for the buck. Staying home and watching TV has gotten a whole lot better.

Visually pleasing, low cost, compact size

Satellites do not close the bass gap down to what the subwoofer is capable of.

I was looking for a compact system that wouldn't eat up too much of my living room. The Apollo system was certainly better sounding than the Bose AM6 system which is equivalently priced in Australia (except you get a decent powered subwoofer from Jamo and decent quality sound). The sound was much on par with the Take 5's but they had butt ugly tubular steel stands in Australia (the US may have nicer stands) and the speakers come in cheap taiwanese transistor radio shiny black plastic finish.

They do seem to be fairly bright sounding and there is something of a gap in the mid range - they are smallish speakers though.

Beware of the Jamo ST 75 stands as the plastic brackets that support the speakers are way too flimsy and one broke within the first week. The local dealer was very helpful in providing spares though - it seems to be a common problem.

Otherwise.. a good, compact entry level system.

I had been searching for a very nice, quality sounding compact home theater speaker setup for the past 6 months and when I finally came across Jamo's apollo system and listened to it I must say it was incredible! I have only found one or maybe two other systems that came close to the clarity and sound production of this speaker system. But, when compared side by side in various room setups I always loved listening to the Jamo speakers better. They seemed to hold better with sound quality and sound dynamics in not so perfect enviroment setups than others. I would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a compact surround speaker system to seriously consider Jamo's apollo surround system. I'll give it a five!

The subwoofer, while much smaller than the ES10, produces excellent, clear bass. The surounds reproduction of sound is more than I would expect for that price. For a few hundred less than the Take 5, it is definately worth it. The intelligent mounting system is a plus and definately better than the take 5's.

The surrounds seem to be very focused on the highs. While neither the Apollo surrounds or the Take 5 sorrounds should be expected to produce the rich range of sound that a tower can, I did notice that the Apollo's were too bright for my tastes- whereas the energy's do their best to avoid that. I was also disapointed that the Apollo's center channel is identical to the surrounds. Finally, I thought the plastic feel given to the construction- though well done, was a rather cheap approach. But then, if they are trying to remain very competitive with the price, it makes sense.

The Jamo Apollo system is a great deal. I own the energy take five system, and run it off a yamaha RXV-595. A friend of mine(who lives across the hall) recently purchased the Apollo system and runs it with a newer Onkyo reciever. The system sounds great! It is definately worth the money.

Deep Bass, Sharp Mids, Very clear highs

Mid range clarity at lower power levels

In Australia there seem to be a growing market for Smaller Home Theater speakers. One day I was curious to hear how they compare to a much larger and more expensive set up "say 5 B&W LCR's", how they sound at High power levels and the clarity at lower power levels also the ability to relay across to the viewer true surrond sound.

Honestly I was absolutly amazed. So much so that I have now desided to have two systems, the B&W 603 s2 for music and the appollo pack for surround. With the power of the Marantz SR18. Why! These Omega sat's just sound amazing, their size, solid construction and ability to reproduce crisp highs and clear mids and playback music with such clarity. The sound pressure levels created from such small drivers is just awesome!

Many of the other speaker packs were not even close, the klipsch were very dissapointing, as were the 8 other packages that I have heard. From the smashing glass of Terminator 2 to the Techno of Blade. I give these little speakers 5 for value and 5 for true surround well done Jamo!

Styling of speakers grows on you after a while

I purchase Mirage's AVS Surround Sytem for myself and have been amazed at the sound and how well the speakers are constructed for relatively low cost. But I'm here to review the Jamo Apollo sytem. I specked a home theater system for my mother-in-law - who is on a tight budget. I recommended she buy the Energy Encore system or the Take 5 which is very good for the price. On the day of installation the audio store she was buying her gear from didn't have the proper brackets to mount the speakers so they convinced her to switch to the Jamo system. What a mistake. It sounds bad in stereo mode. I watched Saving Private Ryan on DVD and have to say it wasn't the best. Her receiver is Denon AVR1800. The Mirage system blows the Apollo out of the water and then some. Mirage system sells for around $800 including mounting brackets and 8" sub.
