Strength:

Size?

Weakness:

Lack of depth, Flat highs

I just recently finished my shopping expedition for the best complete set of 5.1 speakers under $1500. I must say that the Encores did not hold up to all the hype that they've gotten on this site. The sub was decently loud, but muddy, and it didn't blend well with the sats. The highs on the sats were flat and the mids lacked depth. There is a definite gap as sounds pass from the fronts to the rears. I guess if you absolultly have to have something small, these would be ok. They are alot better than the Take 5.2's, but that’s not saying much. I wouldn't use them but in the smallest room. If you want a real treat, and can fit a little bit larger speaker, go lend your ears to some Paradigms. The system I ended up selecting includes Paradigm Titan's in the front, ADP-170's in the rear, a CC-170 in the center and a PDR-10 for the lows. This whole system cost $1250, $250 less than the Encores, and it puts the Encores to shame. The second I flipped over to these in the store, I was sold. The highs are clean, the mids solid, the lows tight and the surrounds naturally blend with the fronts. I would highly recommend you go try this system. It even bests the Energy Connoissuer's in my opinion. The most important thing however is that you go and personnally listen to atleast 3 or 4 different sets of speakers in your price range before buying. Choose what sounds best to you.

Strength:

Awesome

Weakness:

Not quite Bose

Awesome, what else can you say. These are almost as good as my Bose, although the Bose still remain as my preffered main HT speaker in the family room. I have put the Encore in my bedroom and really enjoy them with both music and HT. I don't ever see anything replacing my Bose acoustimas for their size and the shear beauty of music they produce, but for $995.00 the Energy Encore is pretty darn close.

Strength:

Looks, Overall sound, Clarity, Sound replication.

Weakness:

Minor gap in midrange

These are the little toughest set of speakers I've ever had. Besides being a DJ and acostumed to heavy loudspeakers, I am still impressed with the total sound that emits from the Encore 2s. Many will critize satellite speakers with having a gap in the mid-range frequency. To tell you the truth, this is inheretant for all satellites. But for the Encores they fill the frequency response range excellently. You will get that minor gap in mid-range, but comparing to other satellites such as Bose Acoustimass these Encores are just kicking!!! They made BOSE speakers sound low end speakers; no offense. Don't just take it from me, check everyone,s reviews on these speakers. I wouldn't trade them for nothing. They're are just outstanding. As for the looks, they're awesome, impressive. Sound replication is the closest I've heard. When playing Jazz, every instrument has well defined clarity. If you close your eyes while listening, It's like being there live. No COMPARISON...Just an excellent BUY! I picked up this set in Jan/2000 at Harvey Electronics in NY for about $1,500. You can shop around on the net; I've heard of some that have purchased at ~ $1,200. JUST BUY THEM.

Strength:

Looks great, sounds awesome

Weakness:

if center speaker's cover is taken off, it looks so good
that you would have trouble taking your eyes off it while
watching TV.

I have never seen a better looking set of speakers. The finish on these things are just amazing. The sound is
great for a bedroom but may not accomodate a good sized
living room, in which you may need towers for. But put
these bad boys in a small room and you will just be in
audio heaven.

I got these speaker for $1200 through mail order. The
retial is $1500. %20 off is a great deal. Listen to
these speakers and see for yourself if you like them.

now this is the real deal. i am only left with WOW! never before have i been both overwhelmed and impressed with a speaker package, until now. when the saleman (jake) gave me a demo i couldn't believe my ears. i didn't and couldn't believe the sound emitting from such small speakers....and when he told me i was listening to an 8" sub i had to get him prove it (it sounds like a 12" - 15"...no lie!). forget about the rest folks this is it.

Strength:

Small, sexy, BIG sound.

Weakness:

The Bracket had to be replaced twice as it wears.

This is the best purchase I have ever made in the Audio/Video world. I have had these speakers for over a year now and they keep sounding better and better.

These speakers are so beautiful and the huge amount of sound they pump out is incredible. The subwoofer sounds like one twice its size.

Be sure to get the matching stands for the speakers and remove the felt screen to see all the beauty!

Strength:

Small, mounting brackets pre-attached, very attractive, and incredible sound

Weakness:

None

Check these speakers out. Last year the energy take 5 system from this company was awarded small theater speaker package of the year. I am convinced that these will receive high reviews. These speakers sound clear and natural. The styling is both contemporary and classiscal.
They are high end quality. Each satelite is magnetically shielded, has a 1" aluminum dome tweeter and a 4" multi laminated aluminum polycarbonate cone, 5 way gold plated binding posts, and are finnished in an ebony burnished gloss. The dual vented base reflex center channel is magnetically shielded, has two of the same 4" cones and the same tweeter. The powered subwoofer is 150w through a 8" high excursion injection molded polypropylene cone with a 29 oz magenet. Don't let the 8" size put you off. this is a very powerfull subwoofer.

I encourage you to go take a listen. You will be impressed. P.S. Price for this system is about $1400.00

Music and Home theather in a modestly priced package

Comparison shopped and for the price I really enjoy the Energy Encore Theatre System.

For me the music quality was an essential evaluating factor, but for my spouse home theatre quality was important. The look, size and general apparence were classic and fit well in the room where they will be used, which although I really enjoyed the Revox the beech color scheme didn't fit in well.

After evaluating the important factors to us and taking into account our personal preferences we both concurred that the Energy speakers were the best of both worlds.

If you are looking for speakers in this price range, I highly recommend that you take time to listen and compare these speakers.
