Strength:

Nice bass response, good value

Weakness:

Merely average mid-range.

I was looking for a cheap surround system to go with my new A3D card and came across these for $75. At that price they are a great value, but I haven't seen them for less than $150 since.

The subwoofer is the highlight of this package. Most of the other systems I've looked at with big subwoofers have absolutely no frequency response, instead kicking out a monotonous thump. This unit rumbles at all sorts of frequencies, greatly enhancing the bass.

The four satellite speakers are not as impressive, at least in terms of sound. The middle range is slightly muddy, and there is a little hissing at high volume levels. They are good for games with 3D sound as controls are present that let users adjust the front/back volume levels. It's easy to get yourself into the middle of the sound stage, regardless of where the speakers are located.

This set would be nearly perfect for Dolby Digital DVD-ROM listening with the addition of a center channel speaker, but it does an above-average job with the four satellite speakers. The set isn't worth $150, but I'd say go for it if you find them for $100 or less.

Strength:

Has enough power for listening to music

Weakness:

The hi's and mid's are not as good as some more expansive speackers

Those speackers do have a great value. When I first purchased them I was surprized how lowd they can go.
I don't play games, I listen to MP3's, and these speackers are missing some hi and mid frequencies that I had even in my old MLI speackers.
Subwoofer seems to be working well for me, has enough power.
I just purchased Klipsch Promedia 5.1, they cost 5 times as much, but play the music much better then my old Altec speackers.
In general, they are good for games, but not for playing music.
