Strength:

excellent video excellent audio easy on screen navigation built well

Weakness:

somewhat slow

I bought this unit mainly because of the DVD-Audio feature. I soon realized that the picture quality is excellent. I think that the audio capabilities of this machine are fantastic given the price. DVD-Audio is a great new music format and this machine utilizes it perfectly. If you play regular cd's through this machine the sampling rate is much higher than most consumer cd' players so the osund quality is enhanced.

Strength:

Great picture, progressive scan, menu features. Overall bargain.

Weakness:

Slow remote reaction, I don't like the joystick remote. Poor audio quality.

I got this player at Bestbuy a little more than a year ago. Has progressive scan, DVD-A, so great features and fantastic picture quality. What it lacks is a ergonomic remote, very poor sound quality from stereo output (don't know about sound quality from the digital output, and slow reaction time the tray to open/close.

Strength:

Easy setup and Menu navigation. Performance. Bang for the Buck $

Weakness:

None to date.

Over the past year this unit has performed flawlessly. The on screen menus are easy to navigate and use. I have used DVD-Audio with excellent results through the built in decoder. I utilize the digital optical output for processing by my Yamaha RX-V3000 and have never experianced any problems. The Zoom function is nice for use on widescreen only DVD's in order to better fill the screen on my standard 4:3 TV. Although I don't use the MP3 feature I have tried it and found that it worked as expected. During the holidays being able to slap in a CD-R Kodak photo CD and giving a slide show is a handy feature and it works well. The screen capture feature is nice for use as a personnalized screen saver rather then the default Toshiba logo. The remote works well and is layed out well, although I only used it initialy since I utilize my Yamaha's remote to run all my A/V equipment(macros are great). I would highly recommend this unit to anyone.
