Review NaN of , from Calif

Price Paid:  $170.00 from The Good Guys

Summary:
I bought this for my son, on Clearance, as an ex employee for my son who at the time, was an avid MD user. He made several recordings with the MDX-793 and the results were specatcular for MD's. It's sound was very accurate, despite the compression of MD's. This is quite the upscale product with like technolgy. Yamaha was quite ahead of the time with this unit. It's been long discontinued, but if you can find one at a reasonable price, maybe on eBay, don't hesitate, snap it up!! This is fine 20 bit tech!!

Strengths:
Just an awesome unit. Built like a tank, quite heavy. Good remote, excellent D/A's, pretty easy to navigate and use.

Weaknesses:
It's an MD player/recorder:(

Similar Products Used:
Sony hand helds, no comparison.

Review NaN of , from Little Rock, Arkansas, USA

Price Paid:  $300.00 from MaxAudio

Summary:
Ah! The virgin review. This is a great player/recorder but it has been discontinued for what they consider an upgraded model yet the new one does not have optical in and that is the feature I want the most because I have my MDX793 optically connected to my Rotel RCD991 for pure digital recording for my sharp mini-player. I challenge all MP3'ers to get the quality sound I get from my mini-player. I know you can get 1000 songs on your IPOD but "Quality before Quantity" has always been and always will be my motto. The best part of this unit being discontinued was getting a $700. player for $300. Unit has been flawless but I expected that because it came from a high end line and not mass markets.

Strengths:
Built like a tank. Killer 20 bit with optical in and out connections.
