Review NaN of , from Madrid, Spain

Price Paid:  $400.00 from Amsterdam

Summary:
Product is great until it breaks down. Then you're in for a surprise, especially if you have tried (as I have) to avoid dealing with Sony in the past. Parts are VERY expensive. My first repair was covered by warranty, but now I have to change the circuit on the MD, and that costs MORE THAN A NEW MD!!! ($453). Given the fact that this MD is very fragil, if you plan to be a rough user or if you travel a lot (like me), you are probably better off looking for a different product. If, however, you plan to listen to it mostly at home, than its a great product with great features...but then again, why would you need a portable unit?

One last problem with the unit, is its relatively low output volume (vs. earlier models such as the 70)

Strengths:
Size, features

Weaknesses:
Fragile, expensive parts, volume

Similar Products Used:
MZR 55, 70

Review NaN of , from Australia

Price Paid:  $750.00 from Wills Launceston

Summary:
This portable MD player is fantastic. Sound quality is excellent compared to MP3. I have only managed to make it skip once, which meant virtually beating the crap out of it. It is very user friendly, the detailed options menu is very easy to use with the ease of a 'jog' lever. Digital recording facility is makes life easy, by adding track marks etc.
I am always on the move (X country riding) and my MZR-90 never gives me any hassles. I usually have the unit plugged into a set of Yamaha YST-MS28 speakers, but every time I use it with the the speakers I have to go through the menu and select line out! (annoying after about 50 times) All in all a grat little machine

Strengths:
Tiny, Light, Easy to use, Long battery life, Optical input, Doesn't skip, Lots of options in menu.

Weaknesses:
Tiny (easy to lose), Expensive, No optical output, No separate line out socket.

Similar Products Used:
MZR-75- Not bad but lacks features

Review NaN of

Price Paid:  $270.00 from Minidisco.com

Summary:
First off the below review, claims that this unit has an FM radio...it does not! Also, I am not sure what that reviewer means by compression of data...it records only 74/80 minutes in stereo, something like 160 minutes in mono...who would want mono for music anyway? It is a great unit, never skips, good sound quality, easy to use functions. The ability to track mark your recordings after the fact is a great help, especially if you use it to record DJ sets. The portablilty is great for activities or if you want to record a live performance, easy to plug into the system. Headphones that it comes with suck, very painful. Only other drawback is no digital output. This sucks when recording DJ sets taht you manually trackmarked from MD to CD, the track marks don't transfer, so you have to sit and monitor the recording to put in the trackmarks.

Strengths:
portability, ease of use, doesn't skip.

Weaknesses:
headphones, no digital out.

Review NaN of , from NYC

Price Paid:  $279.00 from Circuit City

Summary:
This is my first MD Player and I really like it's portability. Sound Quality is better than MP3 and you can record twice as much data with data compression. The sound quality is really good compared to MP3 players. This particular model has an FM receiver and the Record Sync is a great feature. It comes with a rechargeable battery and a charger. This is a great product. I just wish it comes with a belt CLIP or HOLDER.

Strengths:
FM Radio, Record Sync, Great sound, Computer Interface

Weaknesses:
Did not come with CASE or CLIP.
