Review 2 of 2

Price Paid:  $199.00 from advantage123.com

Summary:
I bought this to make fast dubs and lixes for my portable MD player/recorder. It works like a charm in this respect. I can only barely tell a CD from a digital MD recording with this deck, a huge difference from MP3 in sound quality. Very flexible, and the keyboard input is a great feature for titling my MDs. For twice what I paid, you can't go wrong, just needs a digital output of some type to be perfect.

Strengths:
Excellent ATRAC encoding, much nicer than MP3. Decent CD player. Fast dubbing of CD onto MD. Great price.

Weaknesses:
No digital outputs (why, Sony? even your cheap-ass CD changers have them).

In my judgment the advantage of the MG 1.6 (and other Magneplars), stems from the following: = It is a full-range dipole, and = It has uses low-mass, planar drivers for the whole audio spectrum. These attributes account for its extraordinary clarity, coherence, “air”...
